Now let me get this straight. Kathy Hilton, the mother of Hotel Heiress Paris Hilton is offended by John McCain's use of her daughter's likeness in a campaign ad comparing her daughter and Brittney Spears to Barack Obama in terms of over-the-top popularity and outlandish public display.
Yet when the Paris Hilton sex tape made its way to the Internet, Kathy said nothing. Yet when Paris was first picked up for DUI, Kathy said nothing. Yet when Paris was again picked up for DUI, Kathy said nothing. Yet when Paris was dragged off to jail by LA County Sheriff's deputies, Kathy said nothing.
Oh, that's right, we live in a society where no one has to be responsible for her own actions anymore. I completely forgot. So let's not also forget that Kathy and her husband Rick Hilton donated $4,600 to McCain's presidential campaign. Hilton called the ad "a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign." I guess she thinks she should have some say in how her hard earned money is spent once she gives it to John McCain.
"It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs," Kathy Hilton said in a short article posted on the liberal Huffington Post Web site. "And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next president of the United States."
McCain said that the ad was meant to be negative, saying, "We think it's got a lot of humor in it, we're having fun and enjoying it." Even I can see the humor there. Barack Obama has gone completely off the deep end when it comes to riding the wave of his own popularity. He's convinced himself and the rest of the world that he is "The One the world has been waiting for". He is becoming delusional and is frankly starting to scare even some of his own party. But the abomination that is Obama (does that make him an "Obamanation"?) keeps on truckin'. McCain's ad was exactly as it should have been. It depicted Obama exactly as the "rock star" he thinks he is.
It's just that with her daughter behaving so badly, I fail to see where Kathy Hilton has any ground on which to stand.
I would like to pose a question directly to Kathy Hilton. Of course I'm certain she probably isn't a Broo reader, but hey, as James Bond once said, "Hope springs eternal."
So here is my question: why are you offended when the man you apparently back for president makes fun of his opponent's "high celebrity profile" and yet you turn a blind eye to your own daughter's inability to keep her clothes on and stay sober behind the wheel? You are aware, Mrs. Hilton that your daughter's being in the public eye 1) influences many of the girls who see her and 2) is nothing less than an embarrassment to your husband's family name.
I think the basis of what I'm trying to get to is that I can't understand the double-standards. It's perfectly okay for Paris to act like a whiny little brat and then go on David Letterman and sit there while he makes fun of her but when John McCain makes fun of Barack Obama and uses Paris as a reference point, Kathy gets all upset? Why didn't Kathy throw Letterman under the bus?
...or is that how Kathy Hilton treats the people she likes?
