Gimme My Money

A bank with no money

I had been saving up to buy a small, used, gas saving car. I knew if I found a good deal I would have to act fast and with cash in hand.  I found one! yeah! a sweet deal, low mileage, good body condition, great gas mileage, I was the first one to call and the first one with cash in hand gets the goods.  No problem, I have my savings, ready for action and just this very thing.

I went to the bank, no name mentioned but sounds like a beating of a cow, to get MY CASH, of course I have enough, I fill out the slip, greet the nice cashier, make small talk, and get refused MY MONEY.  Oh, Hell No!  I have more than ten thousand in my account, you won't give me ten thousand of my dollars?  I was told they did not have the money, I was told the policy of the bank is no withdrawal of over three thousand a day.  I was not going to let this car deal slip away, "call the manager"  I need my ten grand today.  The manager, was told my staory of going to buy a car and he or she, as the person did not even come out to the window, approved graciously five thousand dollars.

NO, I said "ten thousand dollars. I need ten thousand dollars today, in cash, of MY Money."  This is my bank, not my parents house, you do not limit  or choose what or how much I can have of MY Money.

Wham! Moo.  like a cow in a corral I was shut out of getting my dineros. Money I thought was safe, and accesible.

My mattress is safer and more accesible than the bank of this country.  But a pillow aint a check book, and my comforter aint a credit card.  Hmm, banks and whole towns going bankrupt. I better get a mattress with a lock box.

Name the bank Baynurse!  Here we have the same frustrating problem you described with Greater Nevada Credit Union, B of A, Wells Fargo, Silver State Credit Union, Great Basin Credit Union, US Bank, etc.  I recently invested in a (hidden) home safe and keep some cash there.  Especially after the Indy Mac Bank run.

Ever heard of a Cashier's Check?  I hear WaMu gives them out occasionally to people who ask for them nicely.  Plus it's a little safer than walking around with ten G's in your pocket.
