Steve Urkel's catch phrase, "Ooop did I do that ? came to mind when I saw the big media up roar over Rev. Jesse Jackson mic flub up. The only difference that Steve Urkel was a dork and generally didn't realize he did something. Brain smart he was, but social inept he was. (Yoda has temporarily taken over my writing skills)
Rev. Jackson along with all the rest of these politicians are supposed to be educated, socially seasoned and generally know that what they say to the public, they should really mean. But wait we need to put up a front for the public, but as my mom says, we don't know what goes on behind closed doors. That is, unless a mic is left on and your wonderful production team forgets to flip the switch from on to off.
Which brings me to a interesting point. Politicians are supposed to sell us on an idea that they support. I find that often they have the selling down but supporting they don't. African Americans are supposed to be supported of positive movements of their culture, Latinos are supposed to be supportive of positive movements in their culture, and other cultures are supposed do the same aren't they. So when someone who is a big icon in the particular culture, one who those look up to for guidance, or following, screws up, what is the rest of that population supposed to think?
I'm still wondering what these politicians think after they realized the've screwed up royally and need to do damage control. If it were me, I'd think I was the biggest ignorant person on the planet, but wait I'm not a polititican. So I would just chalk it up, acknowledge I said it, and move on to bigger and better things.
