Always leaves you with a smile.

I thought I was the only one that like my scrambled eggs steamed because it makes them more light and fluffy until I had them at Dish Cafe.  Dish Café is simply wonderful.  Everything is good.  I suggest a lot of visits where you start at the top of the menu and then try everything, or just go and be pleasantly surprised with a Weekly Special.

My scrambled eggs were $6.95.  I traded my bacon for part of my colleagues $8.95 Salad Fabuloso: toasted ciabatta with warm brie, organic field green, sliced red apple, toasted pecans, with a balsamic vinaigrette with lavender and honey.

Food: Made from scratch, good, wholesome, comfort, creamy, sensuous, tasty, organic, and chocolaty.

Ambience: Cozy, relaxed, warm, vivid, whimsical.  Currently has Giovanni Sabatini paintings on the walls that are for sale.  They are of beautiful food and wine.

I read about this Dish here and decided to check it out with five and ½ others.  Three men, age 59, 35 and 22, three women 53, 33 and 21, and an almost 5-year old Girly-Girl going on 15.  We went at 11 am not knowing breakfast ended then.  We decided, placed our orders and snagged a table after first putting a body at it while its other occupants smiled amiably at us although they felt rushed.  We shared the following.

Side of Organic Baby Spinach salad with Feta cheese, white onion, carrot, green apple, and Dish Vinigrette dressing served with a warm Garlic Chedder Twist @ $4.95.  Tasty.  The men loved the Garlic Chedder Twist.

Side of Caesar Salad Extraordinaire with no anchovies which was a good salad but not one that really tasted like a Caesar Salad, served with a warm Garlic Chedder Twist @ $4.95.

Roasted Eggplant & Peppers Sandwich on Reno’s House of Bread sourdough with Laura Chenel goat cheese spread and fresh organic baby spinach @ $6.95.  Tasty and very rich.

Roast Beef with Havarti Cheese, Horseradish Creme, sliced white onion, fresh organic spinach on Reno’s House of Bread whole wheat @ $6.95.  Tasty and solid.  The favorite with the men in our party.

Turkey with DISH Pesto (Green or Red, we ordered green), mayonnaise, Dijon, Havarti Cheese, organic mixed greens on Reno’s House of Bread Ciabatta Roll @ $6.95.  Ultra Tasty.  The favorite with the women in our party, that delicious Green Pesto, with the men putting it at third place.

The Nancy Taylor with ham, sliced apple, mayonnaise, Dijon, Chedder Cheese, fresh organic baby spinach on Reno’s House of Bread Apple Cinnamon Swirl bread @ $7.50. Tasty and sweet. The second place favorite with the kid in our party.  The pregnant woman in our party pronounced it also her second-favorite and the rest of us women agreed,

Kids Classic peanut butter and jelly on Reno’s House of Bread white bread @ $4.95.  Classically tasty and ultra-nostalgia. The favorite with the kid in our party, with the men putting it at second place.

DISH is a Food Factory reminiscent of a China Town type restaurant.  The ambiance is colorful, warm, delightful, funky, and I loved the oiled table cloths.  Service is pleasant and deliberately efficient.  Efficient is also how I would describe behind the counter, the seating and the overall use of limited space.  Parking is not much but for a short walk there is parking off to the side.  For the loveliness of the food, it was just too rushed.  We preferred to have savored our meal, but the line reaching out the door was not conducive to that.  There was a contented conversation buzz.  The clientele was mixed from the obvious medical employees in the area, to pink collar, blue-collar, green-collar, young, old, and everything in-between.  Never did see the bathroom.  Didn’t see any kid seats or high chairs.  Drinks are serve yourself once you get your glass at the counter.  To-go is an additional 35 cents a person.  Dish is Carbon Footprint Aware so they use sustainable green packaging including biodegradable utensils and togos, and recycle or compost everything.  I thought the prices were about a dollar too high for today’s miserable economic times.  With the State of California telling their landlords to drop their rents or lose their tenant, the State of Nevada and DISH should use the same tactic.  The 45” we were there, the line was never less than nine people waiting to place their orders. At it got closer to noon, it was sixteen out the door waiting to place their orders.  Clever how the waiting line is by the display cases of mouth-watering sweets.  That efficiency again.
