Inside The Storm: Making Direct Eye Contact Can Be Awakening

by I Wisdom (writer), Atlanta Metro, March 15, 2008

When looking a storm in the eye, as we are doing now in Atlanta, you tend to wonder what it is thinking, why is it here, is it mad or just playful. Whatever the reason, you must be prepared for whatev

Wow, I went to go pick my son up last night at the studio. Not even knowing the devastation that was going on right down the street. I mean, we did get caught in the very very heavy rain, some high winds, zero visibility, but no tornado activity.

Now we were in the area that a tornado, Hurricane, sever storm would love, fester and easily grow, but it did not hit the place like it hit in the heart of downtown Atlanta.

I don't think you heard me - the HEART OF DOWNTOWN. Now I come from up North and we like most major metropolitan cities are known for our tall buildings in the downtown area. But if you have ever been to Atlanta then you know that Atlanta is known for housing some really big media and otherwise moguls and have really big buildings, many of them in downtown.

Well, what have we always been told? That if ever bad weather such as that comes along, the safest place is the Inner city, preferably the heart of the downtown area.

Well not anymore, this time the story really only hit in the downtown area. Actually - it tore through the dome, as a game was going on! How about - it halted the actions of CNN (which most of us rely on to introduce such events to the world) and ripped through its strong statuesque building.

Imagine that, a tornado in downtown!

Highway signs (yes the big green ones) were ripped off of the cement wall that held them down for years).

Well that's not it.

The weatherman was stunned. He said it was not even the right type of weather conditions to grow a tornado. Also - it is not even anywhere near tornado season.

No one knew it was coming.

The ripple effect of it was felt for miles and miles, like a gas that was sprayed on one area and it just spread and hovered over all of the areas around it. THere are 19k people without lights. There is debris for days. If you come to downtown it looks like the aftermath of a category 3 hurricane.

But on the other side of that. My sister was in downtown when it hit. Now she had just rented a car. A small car. She is only 100lbs. Soaking wet and my nephew is only 6 and small also. The were very near the eye of the storm.

BIRDSEYE VIEW

She said she saw the wind starting to blow stuff off of the ground, like trash and things. When she saw the trash start to spiral around, she still did not know what was really about to go down.

She then said she looked at the two buildings and saw the tornado cloud in between them just spinning and getting stronger and bigger. She said the cloud just looked like it was turning corners, navigating itself around the obstacles it needed to navigate around.

WOW.

My nephew is shook out of his mind. He is really thinking that the world is ending or something.

Irony.....

Let's recap: Not tornado season, weather conditions did not exist to cause a tornado, it hit in the one place that tornados historically do not, or cannot hit (if they do the damage is very minimal as it turns into a chopped up patchwork of thunderstorms and wind).....

30,000 people downtown at the games alone, not to mention there, not to mention there were others down there, just doing the normal downtown thing.

Yet only 12, count then 12, injuries. None are fatal, none too serious.

A wake up call? I would say....

People, let's get ourselves together.

We must walk and talk righteous.

WE MUST UNITE, AS WE CAN SEE, THE UNIVERSE IS COLOR BLIND. IT CAN ONLY SEE THE COLORS OF ENVY, GREED, HATE, PREJUDICE AND NEGATIVITY AND USES WHATEVER FORCES TO CLEANSE THEM AWAY.

I don't mean to be rude, but I'm not sure I understand your conclusion. Are you saying that the tornado was a divine punishment for the people of Atlanta that aren't "walking and talking righteous?"

if that is what you want to say for your understanding. but i do not believe in the idea of'divine punishishment' that is an oxymoron. divne is divine and punishment is just that-punishment. Are you Christian? Divinity is not punishable.

Um, OK. I guess I'm just unclear on what "walking and talking righteous" has to do with a tornado.

FOR THOSE THAT MAY BE HAVING DIFFICULTIES UNDERSTANDING WHAT IS WRITTEN AS THIS COMMENTATOR CLEARLY HAS.

THE TITLE OF MY PIECE SAYS THAT COMING FACE TO FACE CAN BE AWAKENING, AND I CLEARLY STATE IRONY ABOUT THE WAY THAT THE STORM JUST RIPPED THROUGH THE HEART OF DOWNTOWN ATL.

I GO ON TO SAY THAT THE UNIVERSE USES THE FORCES OF NATURE TO CLEANSE THE EVILS AND FILTH OF THE PHYSICAL WORLD THAT WE LIVE IN BY WAY OF RAIN, SNOW, WIND AND OTHER MORE INTENSE FORMS OF CLEANSING.

NO EVENT HAPPENS WITHOUT REASON.

THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT EVENTS THAT TAKE PLACE IN LIFE AND FOR THE ORIGINAL MAN KNOWS THAT THEY ARE SYMBOLIC OF SOMETHING.

THIS PEICE IS JUST WHAT I BELIEVE THE STORM SYMBOLIZED AND AT THE SAME TIME I WAS VERY VIVID ON THE TOLLS THAT IT TOOK ON OUR CITY.

Give thanks for your comment and in keeping with the rotation of what you stated.

Your truth sees it as I degraded "Gary's" comment. So respectfully, that is your truth and not as I see it.

Peace to you,

IW

By the way,

Culture plays a very small role in what one sees as truth, instead the inner being that governs that person is what guides their reality.

Culturally, we are different, yet, individualistically we stand on different squares when dealing with truth
