Tips for Using Images on Your Website

by johnkelvin318 (writer), , July 23, 2018

In this article, I will explain why worry is unnecessary if images are used correctly and intelligently.

The images add concrete visual evidence to support your text. Whatever you write, it is always less convincing without images. Numerous studies show that most people are more likely to believe a story or idea if there is an image that accompanies the story. An image also leaves us with a stronger impression because our brain is more easily attracted to objects or animals in real life than in words.

Using images on your website can be complicated. The images can light up your website or destroy it completely. Many people are skeptical about the use of images due to SEO and bandwidth problems. In this article, I will explain why worry is unnecessary if images are used correctly and intelligently.

Opportunity

A good image captures the attention, transmits emotion and tells a story. An image can make a web page really effective not only for its quality mentioned but also for how well it fits in the context of the page. For example, it would not be appropriate to use black and white images if your site is about web hosting. Black and white images can work if you use them in an artistic site.

Esthetic

Effective images must have a focus. Except when striving to obtain a particular effect, blurred, vague or blurred images do not seem professional. There should not be too many elements in an image because it distracts the reader from knowing what the image is about.

A balance of contrast and brightness is also important. The contrast is important so that your main character in the image stands out. For example, if you have a lady standing in front of a forest, the lady will not stand out because of the green. If you use a black and white image, the insufficient contrast makes the whole image appear gray and blurry. The image should also not look too dark or too bright, regardless of the subject.

Occasionally, you can intentionally add a special effect to your image to create a dramatic effect. The silhouette of an image can achieve striking results for a minimum amount of time and money.

Clipping is one of the most powerful tools to improve the quality and impact of images. You can use images from free stock image websites and then, process them. Trimming an image removes unwanted elements and allows you to present the reader only the most important part of the image. A good harvest increases the message, the impact and the attractiveness of an image.

Lines of action

Each image has its own internal geometry that can influence the appearance of a web page. Imagine that each image you use is to tell a story. Like the arrows, the images can lead your reader to focus on your page. For example, if a person in the image is looking or gesturing in a certain direction, the reader's eyes will want to follow that gesture. People are very used to horizontal and vertical lines.

Design

Placing images in different areas of your website can have a different effect on the reader. Dominant images tell readers where to look first and there should only be one dominant image on each page. All the images used on a page must be distributed in a balanced way and placed close to its relevant content. The space around each image is important.

Conclusion

An image can convey much more to the reader than a full page of text and is paramount if you want the reader to believe in you.
