UK and European Leaders Offer Support as Iranian Opposition

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) will be holding its Grand Gathering in Paris, France, on July 1, 2017, with various conferences being held on the days leading up to the event.

Leaders from the international community are sending messages of support as the gathering draws close, including members of the UK and European leadership.

Lord Carlyle and Lord Clark, two prominent members of the British House of Lords, sent messages of support for the upcoming Iranian opposition gathering.

“This is a very important gathering… and I will join in line and with the aim of establishing a new government in Iran that I hope will be governed by responsible individuals, such as Mrs. Rajavi,” said Lord Carlyle. “For years I have supported your movement and Mrs. Rajavi in your objectives to making Iran a free country. The recent elections in Iran have inflicted major wounds in this regime.”

“The Iranian opposition conference will aim to keep the beacon of democratic freedoms alive forever, and this is very important… Our message to this gathering is to realize regime change to end crackdown and executions in Iran,” Lord Clark emphasized. “I have many good memories of these rallies where more than 100,000 people participated… the importance of this gathering lies in telling the world the people rallying there have come from all corners of the globe… one of the issues is a new look at the 1988 massacre. This is an opportunity to tell the world the same perpetrators involved in that horrific purging are now ruling this regime.”

Senator Luigi Compagna, a member of the Italian Senate Foreign Relations Committee, also issued a message expressing his support of the gathering for those who resist the Iranian regime.

“We will be taking part in this major rally to express our support for those who struggle for freedom in Iran… This rally, is in support of people who are united for democracy,” said Compagna. “One cannot speak of any moderation in a country where there is no minimum freedom and democracy. Unfortunately, in the days after the re-election of Rouhani, we have witnessed dreadful events. During these few days, 18 people have been executed. In the past few years, the West, and especially the Obama administration, opened a dangerous and irresponsible path with Iran. From this perspective, the call made by the new U.S. government against Tehran will rebalance the irresponsible measures of the previous U.S. government.”

These are just a few of the leaders sending support and encouraging the Iranian resistance in their struggle to change the leadership in Iran and stop the repression of fundamentalism and the spread of terrorism by the mullahs’ regime throughout the region and on the global scene.

The Grand Gathering will be held in Paris on July 1, 2017, and feature speakers from the international community, along with NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi, focusing on the best course of action by the international leadership to address Iran and support the Iranian resistance.
