Male Impotency Treatment in 2017

A lot of men these days suffer from the problem where they are unable to get or keep an erection for longer.

This problem is referred to as Erectile Dysfunction or Male Impotency. Normally if this issue occurs occasionally, it is nothing serious, as many men experience this problem in some part of life. The cause of worry normally is when the problem persists for a longer duration. This can lead to chronic impotency. Many men who suffer from this issue are low in self- confidence and feel embarrassed which can lead to severe depression at times and also lead to relationship problems. Sometimes these signs of erectile dysfunctions are also a sign of underlying health conditions, one may be suffering from.
It is very important for a man suffering from this problem to take the issue head on. Consulting a doctor is a very good choice even though one may feel a bit embarrassed, though it is a very common problem. Doctors are the best to resolve such problems with medications or other treatment options.

Erectile Dysfunction or male impotency is a problem which is majorly caused due to the insufficient flow of blood to the penis due to the PDE5 enzyme which reduces the level of cGMP and Nitric oxide in the body.

Symptoms of Male Impotency

Normally the major symptoms that are observed in this condition are

• Trouble getting an erection

• Trouble in maintaining an erection for long

• Reduced desire to indulge in sexual intercourse

Causes of Male Impotency

This issue of male impotency is a very complex and complicated issue which involves the brain, hormones, emotions, nerves, muscles and blood vessels. Stress and mental health largely contribute towards a person suffering from ED. Many times a combination of both physiological as well as psychological factors can contribute towards a person suffering from ED or male impotency. The causes of erectile dysfunction are subdivided mainly into two, physical and psychological factors.

The physical factors contributing towards male impotency are:

• Heart diseases

• Atherosclerosis

• High levels of cholesterol

• High blood pressure issue

• Diabetes

• Obesity

• Parkinson’s disease

• Multiple sclerosis

• Metabolic problems

• Certain prescription medications

• Excessive use of tobacco and alcohol

• Peyronie’s disease

• Sleep disturbance and insomnia

• Treatment of enlarged prostate

• Surgeries that may affect the spinal cord

Psychological factors contributing towards male impotency are:

• Depression

• Anxiety

• Mental health imbalance

• Stress

Diagnosis of Male Impotency

Normally a physical examination or medical history are more than enough for a doctor to infer that a man is suffering from ED. Sometimes certain additional tests are also prescribed to men to confirm if a man is suffering from ED. The tests are:

• Physical examination

• Blood tests

• Urine test

• Ultrasound

• Psychological examination

Treatment Options for Male Impotency

Depending on the cause and severity of ED the doctor may prescribe the following options for treating the person. These treatment options are:

1. Oral medication

Oral medications to successfully treat ED such as:

• Generic For Viagra (Sildenafil Citrate)

• Tadalafil (Cialis)

• Vardenafil (Levitra)

• Avanafil (Stendra)

All the 4 drugs have been successful in getting relief from ED on a temporary basis.

These drugs are normally used to decrease the level of PDE5 enzyme in the body. This PDE5 enzyme is inhibited by these drugs to increase cGMP and Nitric Oxide levels in the body. These in turn allow the penile muscles to relax and the arteries in the penile region to dilate. This leads to erection which not only is stiff and strong but also lasts for a much longer duration allowing the person to enjoy sexual intercourse with his partner.

2. Other medications

• Alprostadil self-injection

• Alprostadil urethral suppositories

• Testosterone injection

3. Penis pumps, surgery and implants

4. Exercise

Recently studies have shown that moderate exercise can improve the condition of people suffering from ED.

5. Psychological counseling

6. Alternative medicine
