The famous actor from Austin Power, Verne Troyer checks into an alcohol rehab to get rid of his alcohol addiction. The actor is popularly known for his role in Austin Powers Trilogy wherein he played the role of Mini-Me. The 47 years old actor took to Facebook on 7th
of this month claiming that he is admitting in an alcohol rehab voluntarily as he needs treatment for his addiction. He also stated that the center would assist him to “continue to get the help” and thus enable him to fight his battle against alcoholism.
There were many rumors in the media about his health and the fans were concerned. It is only after the rumors that the actor posted on Facebook about the admission. He also thanked his fans for their concerns.
In a statement, Verne said, “As you know, I’ve battled alcohol addiction in the past and while it’s not always been an easy fight, I’m willing to continue my fight day by day. “I’ve been receiving treatment for the last week and I am voluntarily checking into a treatment center later this week to continue to get the help that I need.”
As reported by TMZ, the actor was admitted to a hospital for over two weeks taking treatment for his addiction of alcohol post which he is being admitted to the rehab.
The actor who suffers from cartilage–hair hypoplasia dwarfism that makes him appear 2ft 8 inches has already been treated for his addiction twice before and thus is facing a long battle against substance abuse.
Troyer was in the pettiest condition when in 2002 he had a split with his girlfriend, Genevieve Gallen. The duo was together for 2 months. Years after the breakup, Gallen in an interview said that the drinking habit of Verne laid the foundation of their separation. She reported that Verne would drink a 12 pack of beer and a liter of Vodka every day.
In another interview, Gallen talked about an incident wherein she had to call the police to let her in the house that she shared with Verne because he was too drunk to do so.
Another ex-girlfriend of Verne, Shrider, who was in a courtship of six months with him, said that he drinks “excessively”. Talking to Mirror she said, “Once I went to a karaoke bar with him and his manager and in two hours he had knocked back four beers and four tequilas, which for a man his size is very dangerous. “And Verne is horrible when he drinks – mean and aggressive. Sometimes when he was away he would call me up in the middle of the night crying like a baby because he felt guilty he had been drinking.”
Verne was in headlines in 2015 when he was hit by seizure at the Heart of Texas Comic Con. He was signing autographs for the fans and suddenly started struggling for breath. He was shifted to the hospital afterward to ensure he is fine. The actor conveyed the same through a video on social media.
“I’m sure you guys have heard some news that I went to the hospital,” the actor says. “But I just want to reassure you and let everyone know that I am fine.
“I was there for maybe a couple hours, did some tests, and now I’m here at the hotel and I plan on signing again tomorrow.”
Verne is just one of the many celebrities that have been reported to have drug & alcohol addiction and have admitted to alcohol rehab Malibu.
