Getting into shape can seem and feel overwhelming. Fortunately, there are many strategies to get fit, regardless of your size, shape, and athletic ability. Try these tried and true methods and watch your fitness goals soar!

  1. Dream big

Inspiration is key, and everybody is motivated by different things. Do you have something you’d like to knock off your bucket list, like a 5k, a marathon, or a triathlon? Set a goal for yourself and a plan to make your progress measurable. Maybe you’re going on a sunny beach vacation in 6 months. Use that vacation as your finish line, and work up to it!

  1. Take care of yourself

Common wisdom suggests regular exercise is an energy booster, not an energy drainer, but anyone who has battled fatigue knows how hard it can be to get yourself up and moving. To make the most of the energy you do have, make sure you take good care of yourself. Drink enough water. Make sure you’re sleeping at least 7-9 hours a night. Feed your body with unprocessed, whole foods. See the difference it makes!

Walking is a simple, low-impact activity that almost anyone can adopt. It will get you moving, and the fresh air is free therapy. While the iPhone may have a built-in fitness tracker, the Health app might be a bit limited for your needs. Fortunately, there are plenty of fitness trackers on the market to fill the gaps. FitBit, a trusted fitness tracker for multiple years, tracks steps, floors climbed, heart rate, and sleep. There are also many other brands of fitness trackers for all price ranges—TomTom and Garmin are other leading fitness tracker brands.

Maybe solo workouts aren’t your thing, and going to the gym is a struggle because you have no one to go with. Try a workout class instead! There are so many to choose from, from Spin to Zumba to Yoga to Crossfit. Many gyms include group classes in some of their membership options.
