Leather furniture is required to be cleaned every 6 months due to some common soiling problems, which are as follows:-

Oils & Grease-Body oils from humans and animals attach and hold onto leather. Hair and hand oils are easily transferred to the head cushions and rest of the furniture. It causes serious damage to the protective finishes found on leather.

Atmospheric Oil- The dust that builds up on a coffee table or desk over a week’s time, that same dust is being deposited on the leather. And in addition to it airborne cooking oils and atmospheric pollution is also present to some degree in every home

Common Soils- These soils include the common dirt tracked in from outside along with sand and fibres from plants. These fibres are carried inside the home by adults, kids, pets.

Dyes and Inks- The inks from newsprint in newspapers can readily be deposited on leather. Clothes such as denims can transfer dye onto leather in a process called dye transfer. The direct ink from a leaky pen or aspiring toddler artist should not be forgotten.

Scuffs, Scratches, Cuts And Fading:

Everyone is bound to experience some of the common problems associated with leather furniture. The Chemical- Dry Certified Technicians are trained to address these problems. They have 60 stock pigment colours similar to the ones that are used in the tanning process to repair the inevitable scrape or stretch on protected leathers. They can also revitalize colour on sensitive aniline leathers.

How Often A Leather Needs To Be Cleaned:-

It is recommended that a regular cleaning schedule including professional cleaning must be 2 times a year.

The proper ways of maintaining the leather furniture are:-

The sofa should be cleaned with vacuum andwith a soft brush attachment and it must be made sure that it sucks the dirt out of all the crevices. Dust particles can damage the material when they come in contact with moisture as they are abrasive in nature. A cleaning solution must be created by mixing equal parts of water and white vinegar. An alternative mixture can also be made by dropping a few drops of commercial leather cleaner in water. A soft cloth (preferably a micro fibre cloth) is to be dipped into the solution and then wring it out so that the cloth is damp and not completely wet.

The entire sofa must be wiped while rinsing the cloth in the cleaning solution when necessary. It is best to start cleaning from top and work the way down.

The sofa must be dried with a clean towel. For this purpose a blow dryer should never be used, as it is likely to dehydrate the leather.

For the conditioning purpose, one part of white vinegar and two parts of linseed oil or flax seed oil must be mixed together. Using a soft, clean cloth, apply the mixture on the sofa. Leave it on overnight.

Next day, buff the sofa with a clean rag to restore its shine

Apart from the vinegar solution, the leather soft can also be cleaned with a moisturizing soap and water. It’s better to test the cleaning solution on an inconspicuous spot before using it on the entire sofaSome even suggest cleaning leather furniture with saddle soap. On the downwards, it is believed that repeated use of saddle soap tends to dissolve leather over a period of time. leather cleaning & carpet cleaning is one of the best options to get help regarding this aspect.
