Bedsores – Everything You Need to Do

Bedsores occur on the parts of the body which is the closest to the bones, usually where the skin has little or no fat in between the bone. Examples of such cases can be many such as shoulders, back.

Bedsores is the name which can make anyone numb considering the associated gravity of the diseases which if unchecked, soon takes an alarming proportion. Yes, I am talking about its origin where it is denoted by blue, red or purple patches on the body which soon turns into open sores and blisters. Failure to get right aid at the appropriate time usually results it infecting other parts of the body including the muscles, bones and joints

  • Swollen
  • Warm
  • Smells bad

If the infection arising out of the affected part spread in the blood, then the person may experience fever which is followed by chill. Let’s take a look at the different stages which are related with Bedsores

  • The primary stage is usually denoted when the skin turns into red, blue or purple color followed by burning sensation as the affected part becomes warm as well
  • The second stage is denoted when it takes the form of blisters as now the skin around the parts becomes out of color and turns out to be painful.
  • The third stage is signified with the affected part taking even riskier and serious stage where the skin coverts to dark
  • The forth and the final stage relates to the time when the damage is escalated further with the injuries going deep into bones and joints and results in infection which is referred as osteomyelitis. If unchecked, it is highly likely to result in life threatening disease as well.

The conditions or situations which may even intensify the problem further

Considering the fact that the ulcers results from the increased pressure, so it is highly likely it spreads further if such similar condition of increased/prolonged pressure is found. Yes, I am talking about the times where the patient is bed ridden or chair bound or has limited himself in a position arising out of several other cases such as obesity, immobility or inactivity may potentially is at a greater risk.

There are several other factors such as disorders in the form of anemia, cardiac diseases, emaciation; malnutrition along with cancer etc which aggravates the problem. How? Well, since it increases the blood blow on the affected parts which directly has relation in worsening the problem.

Other than, the rising age is another area of concern which needs to be checked.
