Things to Consider Before Buying a Drone

If you have a dream of being a part of air races or stunts like the fliers in air shows, you can make it real by making yourself a drone pilot since it gives you the closest experience of thrills.

Drone is an RC(Remote-Control) and multirotor flying device offering a new perspective to see the world from a never-seen standpoint and helps you in sharing the things by photos and videos. Many of the Drones right now offer an FPV(First-person view) allowing you to take a driver seat for enjoying the joyride. You can race and explore from the point of view of a pilot. If you have a dream of being a part of air races or stunts like the fliers in air shows, you can make it real by making yourself a drone pilot since it gives you the closest experience of thrills.

Things to consider before buying a Drone

Price

Though mini drones start a less price, you won't get camera drones until and unless you are paying a bit more. Increase your budget for getting a first-person view for smartphones via the app or a color screen. Buying a drone with budget gives you the facility of a mount for holding the smartphone.

Cameras

You can buy a camera drone, but it isn't mandatory that the camera offers you a first-person view or real-time video streaming. Many drones come with VGA videos but opt for a camera which offers you at least a resolution of 720p. For shooting a detailed footage, you will need a minimum 720p camera. Otherwise, it will end up like 1980's CCTV footage.

A drone with gimbal offers you more than excellent quality. Because of the gyro-stabilised mount, the camera stays still even during the tilts of drone or movements. But, that costs more, though.

Some cameras store video to a USB drive or microSD card but others do to a smartphone. For a more reliable and amazing quality go for direct recording.

Charging and Flight Time

Typically, charge session provides you a minimum of 5-15 minutes flight time, while they take an hour almost. Most of the drone companies don't provide multiple batteries, and you will need spares.

You should be ready to invest in rechargeable batteries because controllers need 4 of them and the batteries burn easily while using live video streaming.

Where to fly and the Range

The manufacturing companies claim that the range is more than 100m, but most of the times the range never gets better than 50m. And according to the UK's law, the 'unmanned aircraft' should always be in sight.

In reality, flying a drone in a home isn't easy because the rooms are not spacious enough, and also the rotor can hurt pets and people. It also scares children and pets. Though, there are tiniest models which are easy for small rooms, it is still better not to do at homes.

You can prefer garden too, but its limited space, but isn't easier for losing control, and you might end your drone crashing into the neighbor's garden. And in the worst scenarios, you might lose and never get it again. So, it's always worth having a contact info stuck on it like an email address on the label just for safety.

Where can I find the Drones?

You can find the best collection of drones ProphotoUAV or camera drones and their features here.
