Do You Know Me ?

Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding. Albert Einstein

Perhaps the most human longing is to be known and understood.

Can you lay beside me

Holding my shaking essence

In your giving arms?...

I have breathed in too much bitterness

Seen, felt, burning anger and hurt

Questioned why this is....

I am frightened, wondering

What I might exhale

Into this unknown emptiness ....

Let the silence embrace us

And maybe we can hear

What is cloaked in the shadows....

My heart cries out

To be heard and understood

By someone besides myself....

From the shadows...from the silence...from the unknown...from emptiness the words resound here in its magnificence...truth...truth...truth...nothing but the truth you have so elegantly weaved here in this poem...Keep It up Barb

Wow! "To be heard and understood...by someone..." besides me!! I think that many of us can say these words, many of us want nothing more than that.

Only you, a poet, dear Barbara could say it so eloquently. :)
