As the saying goes "all roads lead to Rome." In regards to sartorial excellence, many roads lead to Milan, one of the biggest fashion capitals in the world. From the elegant menswear of Armani and Versace, to the immensely popular handbags and accessories of Gucci, Fendi and Prada, to the immaculate fabrics and textile manufacturing of Loro Piana and Ermenegildo Zegna, Italy is responsible for birthing some of the world's most renowned designers and fashion houses. Because of the rich tradition of Italian designed clothing, the name of almost any Italian designer has become synonymous with luxury, quality and innovation.

Making its distinct mark on the fashion industry is Piazza Sempione, a clothing company with the simple intent of creating an exclusive clothing and accessories line for women with a high component of technology combined with the emphasis on the Italian sartorial tradition. This brand embodies everything the Italian fashion industry has become known for, the technologically advanced textiles, handcrafts, high aesthetic standards and always heading toward the future while politely acknowledging the past.

Named after a street in Milan, Piazza Sempione was founded by husband and wife Roberto Monti and Marisa Guerrizio in 1991. Piazza Sempione was the street where the couple opened their first shop. Every garment and accessory is entirely produced and distributed at the headquarters in Milan. The beauty of Italian aesthetics is not only the expertise in craftsmanship but also the technology that is utilized. The brand respects the rich tradition of quality produced garments but the company also chooses to take advantage of modern technologic innovation in textiles and the vertical integration of production, from fiber to finished product.

The brand has flourished on an international scale and continues to do so. Last July it was announced that L Capital, a private equity fund sponsored by the luxury group LVMH, had acquired a majority stake in the company with a aim to build on the brand's personable identity to sustain the company's growth strategy through the consolidation of the brand's presence in the U.S. market, the opening of retail stores, the increase in distribution in Asia and the development of accessories.

Currently, Piazza Sempione collections are distributed in leading department stores including Neiman Marcus, Barneys New York, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Holt Renfrew, Bergdorf Goodman and approximately 60 additional upscale specialty stores. The brand has even reached celebrity status with garments being worn by top actresses on popular television shows, such as Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives and Will & Grace. With each collection Piazza Sempione never abandons their ideology, enabling the brand to maintain constant yearly growth rates, and the Piazza Sempione Fall/Winter 2007-08 collection is no exception.

Piazza Sempione's Fall/Winter 2007-08 collection is simply dazzling. The collection is heavily inspired by the fashion of the 1960's apparent with the pieces ranging from an amazing chalk black cotton wool strapless dress to a blue jacquard silk and cotton jacket with knit sleeves. Accessories, especially belts, shoes and handbags, have long played a central role in Italian fashion and Piazza Sempione was sure to include these must have accessories in their Fall/Winter 2007-08 collection. The accessories include boulevard blue handbags in suede and soft nappa leather, a blue double cotton satin hat, black patent leather shoes and striking red patent leather gloves. This collection is bound to fly off the shelves of boutiques as the readily available pieces can be easily worked into one's wardrobe.

The creators of Piazza Sempione have paid close attention to the features of Italian fashion and draw inspiration from the boot shaped country by celebrating creativity, innovation and impeccable style in a world suffocated by faddism. The brand is contemporary yet classic and uses only the most refined fabrics while paying close attention to minor details, comfort and fit. It is only a matter of time before the U.S. market catches on to Piazza Sempione and it becomes as huge other Italian fashion houses that are currently household names.
