Macarons: a concentrate of pleasure!

by JayCee (writer), Los Angeles, September 24, 2007

They are in LA! Finally! These little round cookies, soft and crunchy, have landed in LA.

Although the macaron takes its origins from Italy in the Middle Age, the Parisian macaron is claimed by pâtissier Pierre Desfontaines, grandson of Louis Ernest Ladurée at the beginning of 20th century.

Now they are everywhere in France. And personally I do prefer the ones from Fauchon, Seve and Laduree.

But now Paulette on 9466 Charleville Boulevard at Beverly Drive brings us this little concentrate of pleasure. An inspired collaboration between Paulette Koumetz, who has a passion for the celebrated Parisian macaron, and French pastry chef extraordinaire Christophe Michalak, winner of the 2005 Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie, with his passion for reinventing the classics. At Paulette Beverly Hills, the vivid hues of our unique macarons reflect the natural flavors and essences that infuse the ganache filling of these delicious almond cookies. 14 different flavors are available.

Try them, you won't regret it. But be careful, it can become an addiction!

I was in Paris a few weeks ago and it's true that "macarons" are all the rage right now. Interesting to learn that they've already made their way to the US!
