If everyone could see what I see!

by Shari G (writer), West Hollywood, October 18, 2006

From whether it's on your news channel or at the water cooler at work or in drunken conversation at your local watering hole, the one thing that permeates out of people's mouths are the crappy (excuse my French although I could use some other words)condition our country is in along with just the evilness that goes on in this world. As I sit online reading email after email from complete strangers around the world, the one thing that stands out in my mind is what kindness and goodness are in this world. No one can convince me otherwise. Yes, there are awful things that happen on this planet, but when you search deep down and can look into someone's eyes and see their core, their inner child, their soul, there is no denying that we are all one. This isn't meant to sound all preachy or spiritual or however you want to classify this. This is coming from a normal woman who has had her heart broken, who has dealt with betrayal from friends, work, life, etc. But as I open up my heart to strangers on some websites with my deepest and most personal problems, issues, thoughts etc, what pours out from every fiber and cell of humans, is HUMANITY. Kindness, understanding, love, empathy, knowledge. These people don't owe me anything, let alone their time and caring. But I am shown everyday on many different levels that kindness really does exist. But I guess if one is only looking for evil and betrayal, that is exactly what you will find. I know for me, I am on a search mission for goodness and I am accomplishing that every single day. I say give it a try. It's there. We are here. Find us.

Nice optimistic article. > what pours out from every fiber and cell of humans > is HUMANITY. This is a tautology. But Humanity doesn't express itself only as: > Kindness, understanding, love, empathy, knowledge. It's also misunderstanding, hate, insults, indifference, ignorance. > I am on a search mission for goodness Good luck.

I understand completely that humanity is also "misunderstanding, hate..." but that is my point. If I choose to focus on those things, that is all that I will see. It's all in how we choose to relate to one another and what we choose to FOCUS on when we meet people and relate to them. If there is misunderstanding, make them understand. If they hate, love them. If there is ignorance, teach them. My point of the article overall was just to say that this country perhaps needs to stop focusing on all the negativity and just start to notice and perhaps speak more of the positive things happening around them. As far as my mission is going, I am meeting people every single day that are good and kind people. :-)
