While your hopes of a successful trip to West Hollywood may rely on the amount of celebrities you can spot – if that’s all you came for, then you’re missing out on so much. There are many incredible sights to see in Tinsel town – here are seven reviewed favourites.
The Hollywood Sign
In case you’ve forgotten where you are, one look to the famous Hollywood sign will put you straight. You can get a great view of the 90+ year-old structure when you visit Lake Hollywood Park – where there is plenty of parking. You can even head up the trek on Mt Lee Dr and stand above the sign – where you’ll have an amazing view of the city.
Hollywood Walk of Fame
One of the many celebrity-focused landmarks in West Hollywood, the Walk of Fame honours a plethora of stars that have lit up the entertainment industry over the years. There are more than 2,500 stars representing illustrious careers in film, television, music, broadcast radio and theatre – with around 20 more being added each year.
Looking to experience many wonderful sights in just one sitting? There are plenty of tours in Hollywood that will show you all the hot-spots, many of which have some sort of celebrity connection. You can hop on and off at your own leisure so there’s no need to see absolutely everything, but to truly absorb the experience, saving at least a couple of hours for this trip, will be worth the time and memories.
A glorious outdoor theatre, the Hollywood Bowl can seat 18,000 and regularly hosts concerts of all types. It’s based within the Hollywood Hills which only amplifies the atmosphere. Whether you’re into live music, classic performances or live theatre – you’re bound to find something that peaks your interest. Check here for a list of what’s on over the coming weeks and months.
Another opportunity to see the famous Hollywood Sign – Sunset Ranch is located right in front of it, at the end of Beachwood Drive. The ranch allows you to ride one of the horses across various trails and even right to the top of the park. Its most basic offering allows you a one hour ride that takes you close-up to the sign, but the more expensive options can lead you up the hills and provide a fantastic view of Los Angeles.
While you can still visit the Chinese Theatre to watch a film – its primary function – most people visit this classic building to view the imprints of more than 200 stars. Celebrities have been literally leaving their mark here for years, making it a tourism hot-spot. If you don’t mind the crowds, visit the Chinese Theatre and compare your measurements to the likes of Roberto de Niro and Jennifer Aniston!
If you’re looking to get out in the open and explore a few hiking trails, then Runyon Canyon is the place to go. At 160 acres, there’s plenty of space for you to walk around and stretch your legs. It can get quite busy – particularly when the personal trainers are out with their clients – but if you do decide to make the trip you’ll be able to gaze upon some magnificent views of the city.
If that’s not enough, you can get an incredible sight of Los Angeles from booking a luxury hotel break at Andaz West Hollywood Hotel – a luxurious and high-class establishment.
