ILead is a premier management and mass media institute that is committed to giving its students the best that holistic education has to offer. Thus, keeping this in mind, they have brought out the European Film Festival that has been held in the ILead auditorium spread out over two days April 27 and 28.

This festival saw a plethora of films including seven of them in all but the most distinctive and unique among them is the Portuguese Heritage in Goa that was the last film to be shown in this avant garde festival. This award winning film was directed by Nalini Sousa.

Nalini Elvino de Sousa

The documentary film Portuguese Heritage in Goa is directed by Nalini Elvino de Sousa. Born in Portugal, she has Portuguese citizenship although her native place is Goa. She feels that there is more to Goa than just beaches and night life and this is her inspiration behind the film.

She has married a local Goan doctor and is now settled in Goa. As a renowned film maker, she is the producer of Contacto Goa that is a popular documentary series on Goa and is meant for the Portuguese audience.

Portuguese Heritage in Goa

In this informative and insightful documentary, Nalini Sousa has gone beyond beaches and the sun. She has talked about the chain of forts there, the cuisine of Goa that is truly a smorgasbord of cultures and of course the famous Goan architecture that has a distinct Portuguese influence.

She has also talked about the great sons of Goa like Abade Faria who was a Catholic monk and a pioneer in the science of hypnotism. This has given a very eclectic feel and touch to the documentary that has truly made it into a masterpiece.

Seven Sisters Festival

All in all, the European Film Festival was a Seven Sisters Festival that consisted of seven avant garde films that would leave you spellbound. Two films were shown on April 27 and this included Europe by the Ganges and the Gift.

Five films were shown on April 28 and this included River Journals 1 & 2, Portuguese Heritage in Goa, Pigeons on the Gun and In Search of M. Thus, there was a large variety of films that were shown in the festival and this helped in making it highly attractive and charming.

The title Seven Sisters Festival is very apt as the festival consists of seven inter connected films that are the epitome of the veritable European Heritage in India.
