Best tips on how to improve your laptop on a low budget

For a properly working business, you need computers that aren't giving you headaches. To keep your machines running lean and mean, we suggest using these ideas we’ve put together for you.

How do I increase my computer speed?

1) Use Microsoft Fix It

Use Microsoft Fix It. It is a free tool from Microsoft and it is really helpful to users of Windows 7 or earlier to clean up most of the simple maintenance problems.

2) Reduce Items that Run on Startup

Computer taking a million years to start? This problem is very common with most computer users. It is easily fixable, too. Just reduce items that run on startup. With hitting the power button, you want to see everything on there.

This is how you manage it:

·Click on the Windows button

·Click “run”

·Type in “msconfig” into the box

· Click on the “Startup” tab

We’d advise leaving some things alone, like your Antivirus. Others, such as Google Toolbar Notifier or Adobe Acrobat, you don’t need to startup with your computer.

3) Remove Programs You No Longer Use

Not sure if you are at all familiar with the ancient philosophy of feng shui. Even if you aren’t, here’s the basic though behind it – any form of clutter stops the chi (good energy) from flowing through your space and life and bringing happy occurrences. Same is with your computer. If you’ve got it cluttered with programs you no longer use, it keeps taking precious space and slowing up your computer.

Don’t hesitate to hit that “uninstall” button and get rid of programs you don’t use any longer. Make this your regular drill.

4) Clean Your Drive

Clean up your drives is done by typing “cleanmgr.exe” into the run menu. This way you get to access Disk Cleanup. This is the “search programs and files” box that you see when you hit the Windows Start icon. You can usually spot it in the lower left of most screens.

5) Consider Switching From Internet Explorer to Chrome

No offense, but if you are still using Internet Explorer, you may as well consider using clay tools for home repairs. The reason why most users have abandoned IE is that it is incredibly slow and definitely not a practical browser to rely on. We’d suggest switching to Chrome as it offers so many good options and it is known for its high efficiency and speed.

6) Clean Your Browser

Just as you should clean your computer regularly, you should clean your browser, too. This is true of any browser.

If you are using Chrome, to clean it click:

· the three bars icon in the upper right corner

·click “Tools,”

·click then “Clean Browsing Data”

·Check the history boxes, cookies and cached items

Or, download CCleaner! This program is perfect and does a really great job on the five top browsers, registries and Windows, overall.

7) Scan For And Remove Viruses and Spyware

You should make it your regular drill to do computer scans and scans for spyware and viruses.

Access your antivirus and manually perform a scan. These are okay to be done weekly. Just remember to do the scanning when you are not using your computer.

Also, if you have more than one antivirus in your computer, it’s almost definite you’ll have a rather slower machine on your hands.

So, it is better to run only one.

8) Add More RAM Memory

Here’s another great news for all the computer users looking to increase their machine performance – there are things you can do to physically increase the performance of your computers.

As a machine ages, you can extend its utility with a RAM upgrade. You can order RAM from certified stores or have a retail store service desk do it. Usually, this is simply a matter of snapping in or out memory sticks. For starters, adding 8 GB micro SD card is a good thing to do.

Laptops operate a bit differently to PCs and are a bit more tricky, but you’ll handle it. If not, you can always consult a computer expert to help you out.

Well, hopefully this blog helped and gave you a bit of an insight into the little tricks you can implement to speed up your machines. Good luck!
