I Did Not Lose Anything

After the storm there will be a beautiful rainbow....stay strong, God is not finished with you yet.

This written in March 2007...The pain of watching someone I loved falling apart with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder . Sinking into such a deep depression that left his soul buried and numb....

Do we ever really lose or is it our choices that need adjustment? Or am I an eternal idealistic optimist? That could be, but I am unlikely to change. I am what I am.

I would of lost HEART in the face of man's cruelty to man..

I would of lost HOPE in the face of marriages that seem to be crumbing....

I would of lost LOVE in the face of incest and abuse....

I would of lost COURAGE in the face of fury and rage...

I would of lost JOY in the face of depression and despair...

I would of lost PERSPECTIVE in the face of anxiety and panic....

I would have lost HONESTY in the face of denial and secrecy....

I would of lost PATIENCE in the face of defense and deception....

I would of lost SELF CONTROL in the face of drug or alcohol abuse....

I would of lost PEACE in the face of personal disintegration....

But I believed I would see the goodness of humanity in the land of the living....

I didn't lose anything....

Somehow, I was hoping and praying he would be able to realize that no matter how bad it was, in the place and time he was in, that he would not lose what or who he was....He would again find himself and his strength.

The most beautiful people we have known, are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of those depths. .

Makes me think of Churchill's words "...and we will never surrender! "

agree totally with SJ's comments. You don't wear your heart on your sleeve my friend...you wear a small insignificant sliver, barely visible fabric, hidden by an overwhelming heart that encompasses every thing you say and do and wary be the man who would try to tame your spirit girl! i'll meet you one day, it may not be on this planet, but i'll proffer my hand...but your heart alas will be in the way,as it always is, and no doubt will continue to be because to write such sentiment/poetic sincere prose as you do takes a special kind of person...that you are! And i hope you get a swelled head but it won't be visible methinks for the simple reason as stated,an abnormally large heart full of goodness shields your being. And you share it with aplomb. You is good girl. And a catcher of dreams mystical, and kind thought. And you are not a replica! Maybe a Democratic move re: politics would be for Hilary Clinton to take a leaf out of your persona? She could do worse. Have a nice day but then you always do girl. :>)

Thank you Shane, I wonder if that means we are brave or stubborn? Maybe a bit of both.

Thank Riginal. as always you manage to make me smile and feel humbled at the same time. Maybe we will meet someday, who knows in this huge world which now connects people from all over the world through cyber space...if not, I'll see you in that "higher place", which I am sure we will both fly away to.

yeah, you have to laugh Barb, every person in Australia you ask the time of (if they can spare the time!) invariably pulls out their mobile. Then they scurry on down the street with it glued to their ear. I'm surprized God didn't make the outer surface of mankind's ears square to accomodate the largest rectangular mobile. With a press tab to restrain. An evolutionary design fault or did he make allowances for the ubiquitous fake Rolex? Maybe Dr. Spock was the closest we'll ever get? And don't get me started on mobiles...! Take care. :>)

LOL>>>guess I am the odd -one-out, as I do not have a mobile phone, nor do I wish to. Even my home phone, if I am busy, have company, or just do not feel like talking, I will let it go to the answering machine. The rebel in me, refusing to be tied by "time" or machines...Thank you my friend. :)
