Upper West Restaurant is known for its cuisine. It offers an incredible happy hour, as well as special events benefitting many local charities. The restaurant has attracted a loyal following who consistently attend the liquor/food pairing events. It also celebrates local artists with art receptions taking place about four times a year.
Artist Bobbie Rich will show her art at Upper West in a solo exhibit entitled “A Parade of Ladies.” Rich said she was looking forward to showing her work at the restaurant. “I'm thrilled to be showing at Upper West. The high ceilings and big walls are perfection. Also, I've been thoroughly enjoying everyone's reactions when I mention my show. Evidently Upper West is a favorite of many for wining and dining!”
Rich is fully committed to her art, creating everyday and also teaching in Palos Verdes Estates. Rich was recently named Artist-in-Residence for Resonate Church LA. She runs all their arts programming and arts outreach.
Rich finds inspiration all around her, often attending local exhibitions. “I really enjoy the color, concept, scale and brushwork of Justin Bower's paintings. Andrea Raft inspires me with her skilled use of mixed media. I am most prolific painting with Andrea in her Indio studio.” One of her favorite artists is Gustav Klimt. “I enjoy his figures, patterns and use of space.”
Duality is just one of over fifteen works that will be featured at the show. The artist explains the piece….”The women featured in Duality were inspired by modern, fashion advertisements. The original, overly sterile models have been replaced with unique characters. Both women emerge from the confined canvas space with boldly painted skin and patterned textiles created with paper, gold leaf and oil paint. This painting toys with space, form, texture and sensuality.
The opening reception takes place on Sunday, February 8th, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Upper West(3321 Pico Blvd. in Santa Monica). The exhibit runs through March. For more info about he artist, see www.BobbieRich.comFor more info on the restaurant, see http://www.theupperwest.com/
