Empathy

A prerequisite to empathy is simply paying attention to the person in pain. We are more alike than different. Empathy is about finding echoes of another person in yourself.

I see me in you...I feel me in you....

My heart is too soft, I know I hurt myself...

I do not know how to NOT care

To Not Feel

What you feel...

I have asked God many times

WHY..and what do you want me to do

The answers come slowly,

Not always on my time table.

But yet they come,

So I listen longer, harder.

Opening my heart to go inside

This unknown vision

Waiting to be taught patience

With Your divine guidance.

I surrender my life to what is gifted

Beyond my knowing

Trusting in Your Truth

Living my humble life

In faith and trust....

You so often have a poem that just hits the target for various times in my life. This is one like that. Five people near and dear to me are going through hard patches right now and empathy is something I am striving to convey.

Thank you Caballero, I mostly write with my heart and emotions. I am always happy if they are able to touch another in our common humanity...I will keep yours in my thoughts and prayers...let me know if I can ever help ...it is an issue I have spent years working on....I think your poet's heart will help them, in my humble opinion.
