Rebecca Molayem Gallery presents a solo exhibition titled “Abstract Expressions P.II” featuring contemporary artist Sona Mirzaei.
"The gallery will be featuring works from my ongoing series In Search of Splendor, explained Mirzaei. "In total of 12-15 pieces of abstract paintings that reflect my passion of this genre of art and working in mixed media."
This past year, Mirzaei set a goal to focus on abstraction and her upcoming solo show. “I want to keep putting out new works that continue to exude my passion of being an artist, my love of color, texture, details, design, overall productivity of a range of creativity and practice, explained the artist. “I have created over 50 pieces in 2014 and a large part of this is my appreciation of abstraction, the subtle energies associated it, and myriad of interpretations about a single painting.”
This past fall with Mirzaei had the chance to show her work in NYC as part of a group show with Art for Progress (a nonprofit based in NYC for emerging and mid-level artists – all genres). The reception took place at NOosphere Gallery. “It was very exciting…as it was my first show in a New York gallery outside of the art fairs which was cool! Mirzaei said she was looking forward to more opportunities in New York since she had been recognized by AFP in previous years and featured at some their exhibitions in the past.
She continued, “It is a privilege and I am thankful with the recognition and looking forward to our next project. Mind Blown series was selected for this Deja’ Vu exhibition with AFP due to the subject matter and figurative themes in the painting.” The new series was also selected as a LA regional winner for the Bombay Sapphire Artisan competition for the Miami Scope Art fair 2014.
“The Mind Blown series has been taken well aesthetically by many and it is refreshing to see it received with enthusiasm, added Mirzaei.
The artist recently was featured in the Beverly Hills artSHOW this past October.
