Deliver Us From Evil

by D. E. Carson (writer), , July 30, 2007

As John McClane, the wisecracking New York Police Officer from the Die Hard franchise once said, “I’m really getting sick and tired of always being right.”

I understand how Officer McClane feels. I, too, am sick and tired of always being right. But it comes with the territory when you use facts and common sense to put things together.

I just read on the AP wire that the city of Fort Worth, Texas is joining a long list of other cities that are using the civil court system as a means of deterring gang activity in their cities. The cities are actually suing gangs in an attempt to discourage gang activity. The Los Angeles City Attorney’s office claims such suits actually work.

Of course, the ACLU doesn’t seem to care. And why should they? They think that it is every person’s God-given right to stand on a street corner with your buddies with guns, drugs and other illegal paraphernalia and shoot someone who happens to walk or drive by. The ACLU does not care one iota about the rights of the shooting victim – so long as the gang’s civil rights aren’t violated.

What has America come to? I’ll tell you. America has become a spineless bunch of thumb-sucking crybabies. Sure there are those of us who still believe that America is a good and decent nation, but more and more people are wimping out. Who are these wimps?

Let’s start with the gangs themselves. Gangs are made up of under aged thumb sucking crybabies who think that all it takes to be a man is to get some girl pregnant and/or murder another human being because the victim is wearing the wrong color shirt. These stupid punks have no idea that what they are doing is the most cowardly thing anyone can do. If you get one of those shit-for-brains punks alone, he gets scared, but when his “brothers” are around, he’s Mr. Tough Guy. If they want to be real men, then walk away from the gang. They think they’re tough, but they’re stupid.

Next on the list of wimps are the parents of gang members. These parents need to be slapped for leaving their kids alone to fall prey to the influence of gangs. Most of the parents of gang members are (or were) gang members themselves. If they weren’t, they were some other form of low-life that refused to get themselves and their kids away from that kind of influence – most likely a drug addict or worse.

Third on the list is the ACLU. This is an organization of idiots that couldn’t organize a retreat. They hire lawyers who are seriously lacking in intelligence to stand up in court in front of equally moronic judges and in some cases 12 fools who couldn’t come up with a good way to get out of jury duty and paint honest, hard-working Americans as fascists exploiting some underprivileged dolt whose mental capacity, if it were converted to gun powder, wouldn’t be enough to blow his nose.

There are more that could go on the list, like legislators, judges, juries, lawyers in general, but I’ve made my point.
I blame the ACLU for most of America’s problems – about 95% worth to be exact. They have empowered fools and lured them into believing that all you have to do to make it big in America is to sue someone. Where the hell were they when I lost two different jobs because my bosses were both members of protected minority groups who wanted to mistreat a white man? No one came to my door from the ACLU and told me that I had been discriminated against because I am a white American male. The bosses who fired me were “minority” members. One was a Japanese woman and the other was a Cuban man. But had the tables been turned, and I had been the one doing the firing, the Japanese woman and the Cuban man wouldn’t have gotten out of the parking lot before the ACLU would have been all over my butt seeking to hang me from a yardarm.

All of this brings me back to the original theme of this article.

America is a good nation. It is not perfect, but it is good because it acknowledges there is a difference between good and evil. Furthermore, it acknowledges the existence of evil in the world. Evil exists. Like good, evil has many levels, but make no mistake, evil exists. It was evil that possessed the two bosses to fire me. It is evil that lures young boys to gangs where they sell drugs and murder others. It is evil that makes the parents irresponsible for their children who end up in gangs. It is evil that drives the work of the ACLU to promote injustice all the while claiming to be in favor of equal justice. And it was evil that brought down the World Trade Center.

Evil isn’t interested in justice. Evil is interested in making people suffer. As an agent of evil, the ACLU makes people suffer. By fighting to stop cities from working to end gang violence, claiming that these plans violate the civil rights of gang members, the ACLU is actively attempting to allow gang activity to continue and thus violating the civil rights of honest, upstanding Americans. Gangs are allowed to run unchecked while honest citizens live in fear? That’s not justice.

As agents of evil, street gangs make people suffer. When someone is murdered in a drive-by shooting, the family and friends of that victim suffer. They have to live with knowing that their loved one was murdered by an act of pure evil committed by someone possessed of pure evil. When someone dies of a drug overdose, it was evil that drove him or her there. An evil drug dealer provided that addict with that drug. The addict was also possessed by evil bent on the destruction of that life. The evil started long before the drugs, but it was already there, invited into that life by the promise of something desired. Gang violence is the activity of evil. Innocent people are injured and killed at the pleasure of evil.

All humans are confronted daily with evil. The choice is up to each person as to whether or not he or she will invite that evil into his or her life. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but this is the universal truth upon which our world is built. Evil exists and we have the choice whether or not to chose it or to chose good.

Thank you for yet another reminder of why I carry my card in my wallet. In fact, I might even send them MORE money this year.

No. You didn’t offend me. Your ideology scares me though. The idea that there are people that agree with you scares me even more. Substitute Jew for ACLU and you sound like Hitler. The ACLU is 95% responsible for ALL the problems in this country? Your pieces are sounding more and more like "My life is hard and it's someone else's fault". That someone seems to be anyone and everyone that doesn’t subscribe to your ideology. It was EVIL encouraged by the ACLU that prompted two bosses to fire you? Maybe you're not as good an employee as you think you are. Maybe you didn't have seniority. Maybe you aren't a team player? There are many, many reasons that people get fired and it usually isn’t the fault of "EVIL". You think you were discriminated against? Call up your local ACLU and file a complaint. If they represented Fred Collin and his desire to stage a Nazi protest march in the predominantly Jewish suburb of Skokie, Ill. them I am quite sure they would have no problem representing you, were your civil liberties being abridged. You call me a crybaby? I’m not blaming anyone but myself, and my choices, for any perceived “hardships” in my life. Who's the crybaby here? Really D.E.? Your pieces don't serve to educate or enlighten, and are more akin to blog posts than actual journalism.

And oh, since it was "EVIL" that got you fired from two jobs, I'm sure you'd agree that it was evil that dropped a nuke on two cities in Japan, incinerating hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians - oh no wait, I'm sure you'd say that that was an act of "good" that Jesus himself could condone. Your reasoning is tragic, get help.

El- I will give you Oprah (the show) if you change the percentage to 10 and include ALL vapid talk shows and reality TV programs. Oprah (the woman) at least tries to do some good with all that money she makes. I refuse to concede my support of the ACLU.
