Smartphone photography is all the rage these days and sharing selfies and lunch snaps on social media is something we have come to accept as the norm. In order to satisfy our urge to take selfies and snaps of our dinner, dozens of social-photo apps have popped up on app stores – all clambering for attention. One of these is PicsArt, and it is well worth making room for.
Okay, so you have Instagram and you probably have a couple of other similar apps bloating your internal storage, why then would you want PicsArt? I’ll tell you why – because it’s fantastic!
When it comes to features, there is really nothing out there currently to compare to this app. From the get go, PicsArt’s bright and well-laid out, icon-led interface makes it easy to use and you can be taking shots and adding filters within seconds.
Snapping and/or editing photos from your phone’s gallery are pretty much standard features of every image app though, and, while PicsArt does a good job with the basics, I’m guessing these features are not the sole reason why more than 120 million people have downloaded the app to date.
Where PicsArt really earns its keep is in its vast range of options. This app is everything that Adobe Photoshop wishes it could be.
Once you have chosen a photo to edit, you’ll see it on the screen, accompanied by numerous editing tools. From here, in just a few clicks you can do everything from cropping and rotating your image, to adding speech bubbles and clip art. Heck, if you don’t feel like messing around with a current image, you can even draw a new one from scratch using the excellent drawing mode.
Having edited and drawn until your heart’s content, PicsArt then lets you put your favorite images together in a beautiful collage. Of course, photos can then be uploaded to your PicsIn (PicsArt’s own social network) account or other social media sites at the touch of a button. Cleverly, PicsArt also lets you access photos from Facebook, Picasa, Flickr, and Dropbox from directly within the app – something you will come to love.
Simply put, PicsArt is the best photo-editing app Android, iOS and Windows Phone has ever seen. Get it, now.
