10- Empower Bees and Butterflies: In some countries, like the UK, bumblebee species have gone extinct already. Many butterfly species are also struggling. We need our Pollinators to ensure that our Trees and Plants bare Fruit and our Flowers blossom. Support Ecological Farming and Eco Friendly Lawn Care by doing some research and making efforts to purchase plants, bulbs and seeds free of neonicotinoid and systemic insecticides because the fact is most insects are harmless. Many well-known garden pesticides contain neonicotinoids which are toxic to our environment and kill bees and butterflies. The same applies to lawn care products. Purchase your plants, bulbs and seeds from organic suppliers. Write to your local council or political representative and join forces with your neighbors. Tell them about the need to save our bees, and ask them to stop the use of pesticides in public spaces (from parklands to community planting), to plant more bee-friendly plants, and to make space for wildflowers. Also, buy Organic produce because it is pesticide free.

9- Grow Food Not Lawns: The latest available data from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) shows that a record number,46 million households in the United States are now on food stamps. Which equals one out of every five households, half being children, one-quarter are seniors & military. Community Gardens and utilizing our lawns to grow food can help relieve some of the food dependency by teaching people how to grow their own food, but this is exactly that, a community effort. A must read book for everyone is, "Grow Food Not Lawns, How to Turn your Yard into a Garden and Your Neighborhood into a Community," by Chelsea Green Publishing Company. Instead of placing blame for the lack of work or jobs that have been outsourced to foreign countries, we have to be willing to unite and help each other through economic difficulties by being proactive.

8- Purchase Organic Groceries & Just Say No to GMO: Your local farmers need your support to fight off chemical giants like Monster Monsanto, who are aggressively seeking to grow your food using toxic chemicals and destroy every natural seed strain with hybrid, genetically modified seeds (GMO) that only grow with the use of their pesticides. Nothing like good old fashioned toxic apple pie, yummy!!! Prop 37, a California ballot measure to mandate GMO labeling, failed at the polls in 2012, and a similar measure lost last month in Washington state. In both campaigns, the largest makers of GMOs -- Monsanto, DuPont, and Dow Chemical-- provided the ad funding that helped turn the tide. But what many people don't realize is that they've been consuming products with GMO ingredients for over 20 years. GMO grown corn uses a pesticide that ruptures the intestines of insects, what do you think it is doing to your childrens bowels? Support your local farmers markets, write your Political Officials, join the Monsanto Protests and just say NO to GMO! Unless you like eating poison according to the World Food Code.

7- Support Clean Energy (Not Radiation and Toxic Energy Waste): In December, NBC Nightly News reported that Environmental Conservationists were reporting a mass die-off of starfish up and down the West Coast of North America to Alaska and it was puzzling scientists. Fishermen around the world were also reporting red and bloodied sores on seals, polar bears and fish with strange tumors and legions growing out of them. Some people believe radiation being swept into the seas undercurrents from the Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster in Japan in March 2011 is the primary factor. Interesting how corporations ensuring a lack of radiation sampling in remote regions after the explosion, means no one knows how much airborne radiation fell into the Bering Sea, said Doug Dasher, a researcher with the University of Alaska Fairbanks. More than a year ago,15 out of 15 bluefin tuna, which can swim from North America to Japan in a year tested in California waters were contaminated with radioactive cesium from Fukushima. Even the Department of Fisheries and Oceans reported Sockeye salmon from North America, Russia and Alaska returns plunge to historic lows, when they were thriving in the ocean. All of which eventually trickles down the food chain into the fillet of fish on your plate, can of tuna, and radio active sushi. Write your Government Officials and demand greater reliability on clean energy sources; wind, water, solar power instead of nuclear power which is toxic to our environment and ourselves. Push for stronger environmental legislation so these corporations have an accountability to support "natural clean-up," to help heal and sustain the wildlife and clean the waters and areas that have been severely wounded by toxic negligence and continue to suffer. We need stricter Environmental Laws and to put our support behind the Environmental Protection Agency, to ensure it is not corrupted in order to protect future generations.

6- Reducing Arsenic in the Food Chain- Arsenic is a naturally occurring element found in the soil in low levels. Unnatural is when it is found to be in high levels in your Babies Apple Juice, in your Rice Products and intentionally placed in Chicken Feed, poisoning the meat that you feed your family. How do the people at the FDA still have jobs? I was surprised people were not rioting over this news. Arsenic found in high levels in the body (it tastes metallic in the mouth) melts surrounding tissue like butter, think of it like simmering soup. If you are lucky, it deposits in surrounding tissue and dispenses like a time release capsule which may or may not stop your heart. Drink Orange Juice, it causes a chemical reaction that can kill you almost immediately. Unsuspecting viewers passing by your demise would assume you were a man or woman having your menstrual cycle out of every orphase of your body but you are actually hemmoraging to death.
Max Gerson, M.D. the famous holistic doctor was poisoned with Arsenic in the mid 1950s, after spending his entire life researching to put an end to all the major diseases of the 20th century – including cancer—Max Gerson was quietly putting together 30 plus years of his work on nutritional therapy into book form. Leave it to writers and journalists to deal with arsenic poisoning in exchange for telling the Truth:

5- Switch to Natural Household & Industrial Cleaners- Take a moment and sneak a peak under your kitchen sink and laundry room. Are your household cleaners toxic or organic? In other words, if I told you to drink them, you would probably look at me like I was crazy. Yet think about it, all the soaps, shampoos, household cleaners (many of which are carcinogens) get dumped down the drain and into the water supply every single day in residential and commercial buildings. All those cleaners get recycled through your nearest public water works and end up, in your glass of tea, pot of water you use to make pasta or soup in, even your babies cereal. You did not want to drink the cleaner straight out of the bottle, so why should you be drinking it in your water? Do you really think the chemicals dumped into our water supply every day are removed through the chlorination process? Think again. Repeat after me: lemons, vinegar and baking soda are your non-toxic cleaning friends until you can purchase some all natural cleaners. Not to mention, you can make a nice lemon drop martini with the leftovers, so quit poisoning yourself and your community with toxins. Love your neighbor as yourself.

4- Protect Clean Water. Reducing Flouride , Arsenic & Rocket Fuel in Drinking & Ocean Water- The ability to access clean drinking water is imperative to your survival, and easily taken for granted. More than 3.4 million people die each year from water, sanitation, and hygiene-related causes. Nearly all deaths, 99 percent, occur in the developing world according to www.water.org
In 1974, Congress passed the Safe Drinking Water Act. This law requires EPA to determine the level of contaminants in drinking water at which no adverse health effects are likely to occur. These non-enforceable health goals, based solely on possible health risks and exposure over a lifetime, are called maximum contaminant level goals (MCLG). Contaminants are any physical, chemical, biological or radiological substances or matter in water. When was the last time the Safe Drinking Water Act was tested for National and International Efficiency Standards. How Safe is your Drinking Water in your Tap?
A review of over 100 studies of sperm density from 1938 to 1996 found that human sperm count has significantly declined in North America and Europe since the 1940s. (Swan 2000) While the causes of this decline are not entirely known, fluoride exposure — particularly from high-concentration topical fluoride gels- is considered as one of the potential contributing factors. Flouride creates thyroid disfunction and is also is used as a sedative. Now you know why people are not marching and protesting the way they did in the Baby Boomer Generation.
Approximately 90 percent of industrial arsenic in the U.S. is currently used as a wood preservative, but arsenic is also used in paints, dyes, metals, drugs, soaps, and semi-conductors. Agricultural applications, mining, and smelting also contribute to arsenic releases in the environment and oil drilling releases high levels of arsenic into the Ocean, killing marine life. Arsenic exposure over the long term leads to arsenic poisoning, it causes skin damage or problems with your circulatory and endochrine system, and may increase your risk of getting cancer.
In 2011, The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)identified the need to set a limit on the amount of perchlorate, a toxic chemical found in rocket fuel, that is permissible in water supplies. It is a toxic chemical used to fuel Cold War-era missiles and the rockets that put man on the moon has left a legacy of contamination across the Southwest, where it pinches the region's already tight supply of drinking water. The chemical, called perchlorate, pollutes much of the lower Colorado River -- the main water source for 20 million people across the Southwest -- and has forced the shutdown of hundreds (300+) of wells in California. The agency says perchlorates negatively affects the body's ability to uptake iodine, which in turn alters proper thyroid function and causes disease. When the thyroid fails to get the iodine it needs, it can cause a range of serious illnesses including chronic fatigue, depression, weight gain, hair loss, perpetual muscle pain, increased cholesterol levels, heart disease, and many other conditions. So chemicals that disrupt it, like both perchlorates and fluoride, deserve intense scrutiny. Makes me want to learn how to build my own, above ground rain capture system like during the Civil War.
These facts illustrate an important double-standard taking place over at the EPA, weakened by the Legislation of President Bush Administration. The million dollar question, and 1 cent answer is, " Why?" Corporate pay-offs and gold line lobbyists pockets filled in exchange for ignoring the toxification of our own country, it's citizens and violating "the commons" refers to the cultural and natural resources accessible to all members of a society, including natural materials such as air, water, and a habitable earth which belongs to every country.

10 Tips to You Can Do to Save the Ocean:
3- Better Solutions than War- If you think back to your History classes, and pages upon pages of stories of War. Is it now possible for us to look back at the trials and errors of our Ancestors, past Civilizations and our own Families to learn from their mistakes and create more advanced problem resolution skills. My Sensei from childhood, taught his martial arts students that Martial Arts, is " The way of Peace. We are not to Fight for the Sake of it, but only to Defend that which is Precious." So I learned to take a beating from a young age, to endure whatever blows my opponent could throw at me. Even as an adult, you can survive any blows people throw at you but I can still here my Sensei say to me, " We only attack to Defend what is Precious, Injure, Escape or to Kill. The situation can never be trivial but must be discerned with wisdom as a matter of Life or Death." I say this to you because there are many people with "Wars going on within their Home Environments," which I believe is a reflection of the Wars Raging on our Planet: wars for equality, wars for resources, wars for civil rights, wars for decent wages, justice, medical supplies, wars for energy, food and education. Some say the opposite of War is Peace, I think it is Healing.
The question we must ask ourselves as a global community: " What is most Precious? " I believe it is the Children directly impacted by War. Many left as orphans, like the 4 year old refugee of Syria found wandering in the desert headed to Jordan who will be raised with permanent scars. We are proud of our " Evolution " as a society to allow Genocide to be permitted under the disguise of corrupt Governments, that use our tax dollars to commit murder? Unacceptable. We have a responsibility to help these children heal, and to repair the damage we have inflicted for selfish reasons and economical growth that is inhumane. Get involved.

2- Legislation to Set International Recycling - Environmental - Education- Labor Laws:
The Pacific Garbage Patch, also called the "trash vortex" is a collection of marine debris from rivers, streams and inlets, in a region of the North Pacific ocean where the northern jet stream and the southern trade winds, moving opposite directions, create a vast, gently circling region of water called the North Pacific Gyre- at its center, there are tons of plastic garbage: plastic bottle, plastic straws, plastic bags. Plastic is a man made by-product,regardless of where it comes from, our global community is responsible for the waste it produces in the ocean. Bringing back recyclable glass or aluminum drinking bottles is brilliant but in the mean time what do we do with all the plastic and trash polluting our environment currently? Now this is one example of international protection of "the commons," and we are allowing weak legislation to pollute the oceans that we are responsible for, says www.greenpeace.org
What about challenging ourselves to " get out of the box " and re-invent how we manufacture and use our man-made materials to work with the environment rather than against it, for example we could support building bottle schools like, www.hugitforward.org Bottle schools are b
uilt using “eco-bricks,"plastic bottles stuffed with inorganic trash. Sustainable educational infrastructure that a) builds new schools for children using plastic bottles b) is resourceful in utilizing a pollution problem to create positive change.
Now what if we had International Legislation that resolved to upgrade every industry we manufacture and produce goods for- what would it look like to build a corporate infrastructure around a sustainable business model that empowers 7 future generations? Creating Environment. Education. Labor Standards that pay fair wages internationally to educate women and children out of poverty. It is time to, "Raise the Bar." We need to Challenge Ourselves and our Communities to learn from the mistakes of the past and resolve to do better for the children who inherit this earth.

1- International Legislation to Protect Human Rights-
We are a global family, we share 1 planet. We must take measures to Protect our Environment and the Civil Rights of Future Generations. Whether it is Human Rights Abuses in Venezuela, Iraq, Zimbabwe, Republic of Congo, Kazakhstan, Equatorial Guinea, Belarus, Burkina Faso, Libya, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Syria, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and the Peoples Republic of China or Russia, we are responsible for ensuring Equality and Setting and Enforcing the Standards of Human Decency and Treatment in countries where they are Oppressed. Labor Strikes are Powerful. Demonstrations are Powerful. Letter writing campaigns to elected officials are Powerful. One drop as a collective, creates an Ocean of Change to Protect what is Precious.
You are Powerful. Your Voice Matters. Use it to create Positive and Lasting Change. Never settle for the Toxic Sludge Corporations and corrupt Governments or Politicians throw at you. Civil Rights can be taken for granted rather easily but we need to have a voice and an impact on citizens in other countries who are sacrificing their lives to have a better quality of life for themselves and their families. We must join together as a light in the darkness. Preferably not due to glow in the dark radioactive sushi.
In the words of a hero and favorite book of mine,
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
