In 2005, Ginger completed her first business book, Presentational Skills for the Next Generation. Soon after which, she established her publishing company, DocUmeant Publishing. She is an award winning publisher and internationally known designer. Ginger is the CEO and Founder of CALOMAR, LLC which is the parent company to three successful businesses, DocUmeant.net, DocUmeant Designs, and DocUmeant Publishing. DocUmeant.net offers editing and writing services; DocUmeantDesigns.com, as you would guess, focuses on designs ranging from websites to book covers & layouts to buttons and business stationary needs; while DocUmeantPublishing.com’s focus was begun with the self-published author in mind.
During her entrepreneurial career she has owned and operated a surgical clinic, a bar-b-que restaurant, and held several sales positions including that as a License Financial Advisor. This experience is what enables her to speak on various aspects of business ownership.
Ginger is a member of DesignFirms, AAPS (Association of Authors and Publishers), IBPA (International Book Publishers Association), DBW (Digital Book World), and FAPA (Florida Authors and Publishers Association). In 2012 she was awarded VIP membership to Covington Who’s Who and her publishing company, DocUmeant Publishing, was awarded the 2012 New York Award in the Publishing Consultants & Services category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA).
Currently she resides in Clearwater, Florida with her husband Philip who works beside her as her copy editor.
1.What inspired you to write your first book?
Many years ago I wrote, Presentational Skills for the Next Generation to help others make the transition from off-line presenting to on-line. The Internet Age was dawning and many business owners were beginning to take to the stage. With a lack of experience in communication skills, presentational skills, and how to use the new tools available to the, I was acutely aware that this information was critical to the new speaker’s success.
2.What books have influenced your life the most?
I have read so many books in my time it would be almost impossible to pin it down to one or two that truly inspired me. I love to read fiction and enjoy a good Western, but I don’t write on either of these topics.
3.What are your current projects
My latest book, Complete Library of Entrepreneurial Wisdom, and it is a compilation of ten years of writing about thirty years of business ownership. I am currently working on my Sixth Edition Weird & Wacky Holiday Marketing Guide: Your calendar of marketing ideas which will be available in ebook format in December of this current year.
4.If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
No, I believe that my latest book, Complete Library of Entrepreneurial Wisdom, is a true goldmine for business owners. And I personally love the cover and video book trailer that Misty Taggart of Trailer to the stars animated for it. They both make me smile and I am sure you will too when you see them.
5.What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author?
No author likes to be told their grammar or spelling needs work. But every author needs to let a competent editor do their job.
6.What has been the best compliment?
The first thing people see when they pick up my latest book, Complete Library of Entrepreneurial Wisdom, is the cover. While that is always complimented, the best compliment was when I was told that I needed to share it and not just keep it to myself.
7.Do you have any advice to give to aspiring writers?
Invest in your work. Hire competent editors and designers to make your book or ebook the best it can be.
8.What is your favorite quality about yourself?
I am an active listener and love to help others.
9.What is your least favorite quality about yourself?
I hate to admit it, but I can be a bit stubborn at times.
10. Is there anything else you would like to share?
The Complete Library of Entrepreneurial Wisdom is available on Amazon in both print and digital versions and you can also read more about it and access the Nook, PDF, and SmashWords versions at http://www.CLEWbook.com.
