The Treasure of Time

A Clock

When you sit back and think about it...how precious is your time?

Imagine there is a bank which credits your account each morning with $86,400.

It carries over no balance from day to day, allows you to keep no such balance, and every evening cancels whatever part of the amount you had failed to use during the day.

What would you do?

Draw out every cent, of course! Well, everyone has such a bank.

Its name is TIME.

Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds.

Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose.

It carries over no balance.

It allows no overdraft.

Each day it opens a new account for you.

Each night it burns the remains of the day.

If you fail to use the day’s deposits, the loss is yours.

There is no going back. There is no drawing against the “tomorrow.”

You must live in the present on today’s deposits.

Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success.

The clock is running. Make the most of Today.

To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who has failed a grade.

To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who has given birth to a pre-mature baby.

To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realize the value of ONE DAY, ask a daily wage laborer who has kids to feed.

To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.

To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who has missed the train.

To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who has avoided an accident.

To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who has won a silver medal in the Olympics.

Treasure every moment that you have!
And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special,
special enough to spend your time …
remember that Time waits for No One …..

Yesterday is History …
Tomorrow a Mystery …
Today is a Gift.
That is why it is called the Present.

I remember reading this a while ago...and the message is so wonderful.... it stayed with me I know... and as we get older I think it also takes on more relevance ...make the most of every moment... never part from a friend without hugging them...tell everyone u love this often... live each day like it is your last....beautiful sentiments we all should follow... thanks you for sharing this here...a great post Coach. Time waits fro no one...

"to fill the unforgiving minute with 60 seconds worth of distance run" is a tough call. but, to be fair, it must also count as productive moments when we appear to be idle -e.g. sleeping, thinking, meditating. a well presented portrayal of time.

Coach do you realize your opening statement is a conundrum of time wasted via contemplative reflectiveness? IE:"When you sit back and think about it,how precious is your time?" I wasted 2 precious seconds 'sitting back' reflecting on that sentence when i could have been picking my nose/scratching my arse during that inordinate blatant time waste deviation! My missus just fed me and asked if i wanted seconds. I said yes...two seconds stolen by Coach. A pleasant waste of time might i add and a thoughtful insightful post. Hours is not to wonder why, hours is just to do...as many useful things as one can do in 60 secs. That's why Nostrildamarse stopped picking his nose and scratching his derriere. After all...his futuristic predictions were second to none...time after time! Apologize for wasting your valuable time on such triviality Coach. Hope i haven't intruded at a bad time? God bless,he's got a lot of time for you methinks.
