Poetry Is Life...

by Barbara MacDonald (writer), CANADA , September 03, 2013

Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance. Carl Sandburg

Writing poetry is like breathing into existence the best parts of life...a reflection of my idealist heart and soul...this is why I write poetry...

Pen in hand

Unlocking my core

The poet in me

Peeling away my mask

Gifting the reader

A glimpse in passing

Opening myself in

Vulnerability to behold

Emotions laid bare

My soul dancing

With no barriers

To constrain my heart

Words which are

Otherwise empty

Are birthed into benediction

Sacred celebrations manifested

Clothed in poetry's wonder

Love my inspiration

As all artists alike

A celebration of life

Painting the mundane

In shades of luminescence

Rejoicing in the serenity

I give you my heart

My soul transparent

Welcoming you into

The inspiration of a poet

You may forget the words

But, please hold onto the

Essence of this poet's soul....

Don't lie to me girl you write poetry because you are damn good at it...and a great damn poem was such! Lovely. You would already know dancing girl that dementia patients respond to music tremendously. Current affair showed lady tapping her feet which in turn gives stressed carers a respite. Keep on keeping on girl, your poetry has a life/dance of its own.Cheers.

Barb,in your poetry I am breathing...As I resuscitate from the crumbling ruins of starvation, the revelation sets in that this poetry is a morsel to starved soul…a feed to live…to sustain…In your poetry, yes I am living…I am breathing…

“You may forget the words

But, please hold onto the

Essence of this poet's soul...” An assertion in these lines, in its most humble way defines tenderness of a poet…Barb you are a class…unique in your own way…

Barbara, your closing lines were stunning. Those who write poetry open our souls with pen in hand or in these times keyboard. Thoughts, inspiration coming from all walks of life. You have penned this well.

Thank you Uttam....I sometimes think I was placed on the "wrong" planet... and wonder if there should be a planet where poets and idealists live...I surely would move there ...:D
