A Look Inside A Poet's Essence

by Barbara MacDonald (writer), CANADA , August 15, 2013

"May we be strengthened with the understanding that being blessed does not mean that we shall always be spared all the disappointments and difficulties of life."

As I was looking in the mirror today, I could not help but have this thought flow through lighting striking with the truth of awareness planted into my consciousness. My mind wandering beyond this menial existence, reaching to a deeper level where my true soul resides.

I often times feel like God has placed me on a different sphere , a realm that is instructing me in what the true meaning of humanity needs to be. Lessons learned , often with a torment of cascading tears cried like a river seeking it's source.

As I study my face in the mirror I read my life lived. Is this the beauty of getting older I wonder? The knowledge that each line instructs my soul which I wear proudly. The lingering of beauty and pain, each depicting their own relevance. This makes me ME..(if you understand how I mean this.). This is why I will never wish away any adversities or joys I have been blessed with.

“The energy of the mind is the essence of life.” Aristotle

Through these thoughts this poem is given birth to ....

Putting my makeup on

I wonder if it will cover

The disconsolate loss

Of beautiful loved ones

Lingering always in our thoughts

Memories branded lovingly

Shall I put some blush on?

Lipstick painting a smile

More shadows, less clouds

Time erasing the pain

My heart healed but still

It lingers on my face

Showering within me

The birth of compassion

Won through my struggles

The sunlight gently

Touching my face

The gentleness of my heart

Filled in abundance with warmth

If times obliterates the scars inside

When the tears have

Been wiped away

Please leave these lessons

Placed on my face

Earned with the fierce

Beauty of all that

Is True and Real....

My body is like a finely tuned violin...with a few strings missing...but i don't need strings,my missus stapled my pants on last night. I really am in the pram...sorry,prime of my life!
