Kids can’t comprehend how I can be single
Meet Matt Gajdoš. I love this teachers' art, especially the expressions Matt captures. As a mother of nine kids, his cartoons ring true; they truly are written by the kids he teaches. I mean no adult could possible come up with half of his material. Only a listening, caring man with a hilarious sense of humour and a unique talent can create Mister G. kids! Listen to his introduction of himself because he will snag your interest with the very first sentence:
I’ve had the pleasure of spending the last six years teaching elementary kids, big and small, as a substitute teacher. People ask me why I sub. Sure, there are occasional headaches and sometimes it can be stressful. But the reason I do it is simple:The Kids! They make me laugh! They have no filter, and they always come up with an observation you would never hear from an adult. That’s why I get up every morning and go back for more, even if they do wipe me out sometimes.
And I make a comic about it! Mister G kids is a daily webcomic that updates at midnight Greenwich Mean Time. Who writes the jokes? The kids! I have collected years worth of authentic quotes from real students – incidental, off-handed throwaways to them, but to me they are gems –
Matt has been blogging for a year now which adds up to
453 hours of Spotify
274 kilowatt-hours of air conditioning
1 Staples and 1 Pearl Paints
His blogging experience has been encouraging and energizing for his work as he has met other artists and cartoonists who simply love to draw.
