Anyone who has recently had a Starbuck’s triple latte’, or dare I say it, anyone who is not in a coma, surely realizes by now that the current Congress is about as effectual as a Rolex that has been flattened by a 20 ton steamroller.
I say Rolex because Rolexes are expensive as are our Congressional representatives. In a recent national survey only 10% of those polled said that they approved of the performance of Congress, the lowest approval rating ever recorded, with 100% of the respondents asking “is Congress in session?”
So with that in mind I offer this declarative…
Never in the course of this great nation have so few done so much harm by their political manipulations, lying, incompetency, and warrant disregard for the high standards of the job that the people elected them to, than Congress.
Their continued self-adoration of what is best for themselves, their district or their state rather than the greater good of the nation as a whole, has brought the very concept of a government of the people, for the people and by the people into question as to whether or not this, the greatest form of government yet conceived by mortal man, can survive.
Their continued backstabbing, political grandstanding, in-fighting, political favoritism and outright robbing of the nation’s treasury for personal gain, pet pork projects and the overwhelming influence of special interests and lobbyists with deep pockets has corrupted each and every member within the hallowed marble halls of Congress.
It is now time for the people to rise up and remove ALL that now sit in the seats of power.
Removing but a few would do no good, for a loud and clear message must be heard throughout the land, that the ways of the ‘ole boys club’ will no longer be tolerated and business as usual shall not mean making deals with a wink and a nod in the smoky back rooms.
Governing not for the greater good but rather for what they can gain, these self-styled Caesars must be vanquished so that this republic can start anew.
The founding fathers in their wisdom knew that fresh voices and fresh minds must continually be allowed to shine and be heard or the system would become merely a shadow of its potential and to this end they set term limits for those who would serve, they never intended for the people’s representatives to have lifetime employment at the peoples expense.
Congress in its ‘infinite wisdom’ has seen fit to set term limits on the President, in fear that the President would become too powerful, yet Congress is unwilling to live under the same restrictions of term limits.
While Congressional members dine on publicly paid for steak and lobster, prepared for them by the finest of chefs, the average American family eats left-over meat loaf and boiled potatoes, while Senators and Representatives trend the latest fashions in custom tailored suits, the American family scours through the plastic bins at thrift shops. While average Americans worry about where next month’s mortgage payment will come from, Congressional members buy mansions in gated communities, while families struggle with the option of taking a vacation or saving for their children’s college fund, our Representatives take ‘fact finding missions’ to far away exotic islands, paid for by corporations large and small and then write the expenses off in their tax reports. While Americans try to survive by working 50 weeks and more, Congress is in session only 20 weeks of the year.
When will the madness end?...
