Stand for Justice

A Teen, not a Thug
watch the video

"Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are"?

Where justice is denied,

Ignorance and enmity prevail.

Where one group is oppressed,

Every group must face travail.

Many yearn for peace

With a pure and sincere desire

But unless they also fight for justice

True peace has no chance to transpire.

When the presumptions of some

Degrade or malign any

People and their property are endangered,

Be they the few or the many.

Where a youth is wrongly suspected

Bigotry runs wild.

When a vigilante pulls the trigger,

He executes a child.

When a jury sits in judgment

And the law conflicts with truth

A murderer goes unpunished

For the lynching of this youth

Where justice is denied

And the victim bears the blame.

To stand silent and unprotesting,

Is to earn enduring shame

The learning of the wise

Alone the world won’t save.

This requires the nobility of the good

And the honor of the brave

Let us remember Trayvon Martin

Though we cannot bring him back

We can arise and work relentlessly

To put justice back on track

In the state of Florida

And all throughout the land

Black and white must come together

And make a valiant stand.

Very heart felt ...and how wonderful if every one had the ability to embrace differences without fear and intolerance dividing us as human beings. Thank you for taking a stand. I too stand beside you praying that mankind will use their heart more when interacting with others .

No man is an island ....

Human beings do not (or should not) live in isolation. All people are interconnected. A person is not like an island, standing alone and surrounded by sea.

I have always desired to be a skillful poet, which I'm not. But i keep practicing any way. Instead I'm a writer of controversy, go figure.

Intresting insightful poem, great sentiment and I agree with Barbara MacDonald's comment, because it draws needed attention to the essential needs, the universal understandings between people and the possibilities of a thriving civilization.
