What inspired you to write your first book?
The desire to help other women, just like me. I used to be a stressed-out high-achiever who was often overworked, over-scheduled and overwhelmed. But I learned how to slow down and start enjoying life again. Now, I feel compelled to help women experience healthier relationships by reducing stress through self-exploration in relationships and personal routines. Learn how certain behaviors and routines encourage stress, as well as those that reduce stress. Learn how stress can actually adversely affect every aspect of life - from relationships to financial decisions. Discover how women handle stress and how to break away from the methods of reducing stress that don't work.
What books have influenced your life the most?
The two books that influenced me in my life are 1) Who Moved My Cheese, and 2) the Bible. The profound and deep truths and principles in those two books helped me to regain my own balance and joy in life. So many things in life are beyond our control, but our reaction to life’s challenges is what really makes or breaks us. Persistence, perseverance, and prayer are invaluable.
What are your current projects?
I am currently working on promoting and marketing the book series online as well as on topics and book outlines for my next 10 books for the Self-Help Stress Relief Series. I feel confident that these practical and affordable books will influence lives positively, and I am focused on making sure that I get the books in the hands of the women who need them!
If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
Yes. My latest book addresses the importance of making a firm resolution to reduce stress. The one thing I would change would be to add interviews from real women about how stress currently affects their lives and health and then ask find out if they are ready to make resolutions for stress relief. Small lifestyle changes can make a big difference in effective stress management.
What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author?
The toughest criticism was about the book description/book summary. Narrowing down the main jest of the book in just a few paragraphs was hard.
What has been the best compliment?
The best compliment was hearing from a reader for the book changed her life for the better and how she was able to reduce stress using some of the practical and simple methods outlined in the book.
Do you have any advice to give to aspiring writers?
One of my primary activities is participating on social networks. You will find me on all the major social media platforms, such as facebook, twitter, pinterest, google+, youtube, and linked in. People are using every online and mobile method conceivable to access information, and as a writer you need to be ready to provide information and engage readers via those methods and channels.
What is your favorite quality about yourself?
I am self- determined and not afraid to walk the road less travelled, even if it means walking that road all alone. Rather than wanting to be popular and liked by everyone, I prefer to stand up for what I believe in, even if it means being disliked by others.
What is your least favorite quality about yourself?
I can be impatient at times. With my result oriented approach, quite often it’s impossible to achieve the results I desire within my self-imposed timeframe. Especially when there are other persons involved. Learning to be patient is a life-long challenge for me.
