What inspired you to write your first book?
I have helped many patients lose weight over the years and I found that the biggest problem for them was gaining the weight back so I set out to find the common thread that seemed to be causing this. The result was the cycle of overeating which identifies the unseen but major contributors to keeping us overeating and using food for comfort
What books have influenced your life the most?
The Story of My Life-Helen Keller, One Hundred Years of Solitude-Gabriel Garcia Marquez, On Death and Dying- Elizabeth Kubler Ross.
What are your current projects?
Currently I am working on a new book about achieving success. I have found a blueprint that applies to anything that you are trying to achieve in life whether it is weight loss, a happy marriage, or a successful business.
If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
I like the book the way it is. Why I Don’t Lose Weight touches deeply the readers who are suffering with their weight.
What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author?
So far I have received positive comments.
What has been the best compliment?
A tearful reader once told me “your book changed my life.”
Do you have any advice to give to aspiring writers?
Always write about what you are passionate about since it shows through in your writing. Be truthful with your readers.
What is your favorite quality about yourself?
I am persistent when it comes to achieving a goal.
What is your least favorite quality about yourself?
I am a perfectionist and sometimes that becomes a hindrance when I am trying to complete a project since I want to make it perfect. I have learned to balance my perfectionism by setting more realistic goals.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
Yes, I invite you to listen to my weekly national radio show, The Dr. A Show. The radio show centers around the ideas in the book and how integrating changes in nutrition, fitness, self-help, and wellness creates a solid foundation for a better life.
