hey chorused a noisy amen

by Uttam Gill (writer), BOMBAY(MUMBAI), February 06, 2013

watch the video

It’s about the sheer intimidation and brutality over the conquered. When I, gloss over the pages of history, I see, so many dead bodies, staring at me...asking justice.

In chorus, they sing, kill them, it’s not a sin

They yell, to incite

Kill them, Kill them, they chant

Lunatic frenzy, at its peak

Marauding mob chants vociferously

In chorus, they sing, kill them, it’s not a sin

They are at the gate

The mob yells, “hand over them”

They are the one, to be killed

Sane one pleads, leave them

In chorus they sing, kill them, it’s not a sin

They coerces the way, to take away

The wounded soldiers and the nursing hand

Trophies in the hand of blood thirsty mob

The mob ask “what we do with them”

In chorus they sing, kill them, it’s not a sin

The blood lust mob in streets, at square

They kick them, they boo them

Smeared with blood and tears

Helpless, they plea for mercy

In chorus they sing, kill them, it’s not a sin

They coerce them, brutally, to strip

Crowd ogles at them with sadistic pleasure

People scavenging other people

Wounded and the nurses, plea for mercy

In chorus they sing, kill them, it’s not a sin

With last hope to set her free, a nurse breaks away

From one set of devils to others

They drag her to the nearby building

The rituals of rape and the shrieking wails incites the mob

In chorus they sing, kill them, it’s not a sin

Rest of the one at square, accepts the ‘fate accompli’

Hell on earth sings now loudly, “Kill them”

More they sing, more they hit them hard

With last hope, she begs for a life

In chorus they sing, kill them, it’s not a sin

And…….. "They chorused a noisy amen"…

the image of a mob singing and repeating a chorus is a perfect way to convey the mob mentality which takes over and allows people to kill

Oh Uttam, I do understand how hard it is to know this or watch this...it always upsets me to see the degree of cruelty men are capable of...add to this the "mob mentally" and we have created something beyond rational...I know I shared with you years ago when I had visited Austria, going to a concentration camp which they have kept and use the proceeds to benefit the relatives of the numerous souls lost there...it was so unreal and painful to stand in the gas chambers there and know and feel all the people who breathed their last breath there...I left a comment in the book which basically said... may we as humans never sink to the depravity again...but of course it exists in many countries still....I feel this pain through your words Uttam...very well expressed my friend.

Uttam, a mob aroused to a frenzy is an awful thing. It seems that when these mobs stand together, they stop thinking with their hearts. There has been so much ugliness and cruelty throughout the ages, it all makes my heart ache. But do we ever really learn? I fear for our future. Sigh!

Thank You Barb...Actually it is about the Sudetan Germans who were brutally treated and murdered by the Czech's after the defeat of Germany in WW II...I am reading about this and picking up lot of information from the net...Hopefully I will write more on this...

Thank you Virginia…Yes, the mob behavior at times is so brutal and it can go beyond unimaginable limit of its barbarity

So true, Uttam. And the mere thought alone makes me shiver. Sigh!
