We’re talking today to J.B. Miller, author of No Time for Love. No Time for Love is published by TMG Books.
Congratulations on your new book! Before we ask how you did it, can you tell us a little about your book?
No Time For Love is about Chatham Ross, a young widow with three children who simply is so busy with her family and her advertising branding business that she has no time for herself. When it comes to love, Chatham has to laugh. When would she fit that in? What she doesn’t know is that a very close friend has been in love with her for years and can’t seem to find the perfect time to tell her. And, it just so happens that Chatham randomly meets a gorgeous guy from the other coast. We follow her as these two very desirable men vie for her affection. The question is, which one does she choose or has the choice been there all along?
Can you tell us who your publisher is and why you went with them?
My Publisher is new to the business. TMG Books in San Francisco. I am happy to start out with a Publisher as opposed to self-publishing, yet I will be doing a lot of the legwork until they become more established. I hope I become one of their most successful authors!
Were they your original choice?
I met them through an editor and am grateful for their consideration. It just felt right so I went with them.
Did you go through an agent?
What are the perks of going with a traditional publisher?
Book tours, marketing budget, radio, tv and press releases. I don’t have much of that with my publisher because they are new, but I am looking forward to helping market my book. I have a strong business background so this part is fun for me.
Did you ever consider self-publishing and why or why not?
I have self-published before. Poetry and Short Stories primarily. I like that route as well, yet I wanted this novel to appeal to a mass audience as opposed to a particular targeted segment.
What do you believe is the biggest obstacle authors face when searching for a traditional publisher?
Rejection. Rejection. Rejection. My advice? Never give up.
What does your publisher do in terms of publicizing your book?
Press Releases and Book Tours primarily. Some radio.
What do you believe is the biggest challenge authors face in promoting their books?
So much to do! You have to have the right fortitude to get out there day after day and promote yourself. I love that part of the process.
Are you active in the social networks and which is your favorite?
I love Twitter and Facebook primarily.
Do you have any advice you’d like to share with aspiring authors?
Never give up. Be persistent. I have a cousin who is a NYT Best Selling Author of thrillers. I helped him produce a television show years ago and I remember him telling me that he wanted to write a novel. He is on his 12th best seller. I hope to achieve his success in a different genre.

About the Book:
Chatham Ross has no time – for anything, least of all love. She manages her three kid’s demanding schedules, exercises at crazy hours to preserve her less than perfect figure and writes catchy advertising jingles to pay for the mortgage. To the outside world, she seems to have it all – except for a husband. Who has time for that? Besides, hers died unexpectedly five years ago and she’s still not over it. A chance occurrence with a particular jingle finds Chatham on a bi-coastal roller coaster that she can’t seem to put the breaks on. Will the man who has always secretly loved her finally have his chance to ride along? Or will the very handsome foreigner on the other side of the country claim her wounded heart? At some point she has to choose which path is for her – or has it been there all along?
