Fruit can be bad for you!

Educate yourself about fruit to help both your health and your waistline.

There I said it, I bet you haven’t heard that before. Hardcore dieters have known this for some time as they are well aware that fructose has a similarly bad effect on our bodies as table sugar. (Sucrose) If you are really serious about losing weight you must count every carb from fruit and make sure not to over do it. People only dieting for overall health and not to lose weight must also be aware of the sugar content of the fruits they eat. People falsely assume that the sugar in fruit is not bad for you. False! It has a negative effect on insulin levels when over consumed and can contribute to the same terrible consequences of table sugar such as unsafe weight gain, insulin dependence, rotting of teeth, and can even contribute to cancer. So eat fruit, but don’t over due it or think that you can substitute fruit instead of vegetables.

I want to make it clear that I do eat fruit, I just do so in smaller amounts than many people as I watch my sugar intake. I also am sure to eat certain fruits over others; Strawberries for example have 7 grams of sugar per serving, as opposed to an apple which has 14 grams of sugar. Knowledge is power when it comes to getting lean, just as ignorance is a negative force that will expand your waist line. A lot of dieting often comes down to simply switching out different foods with the knowledge that we we attain. Many times, as with strawberries, we learn that we can eat in a more healthful way without substituting taste or sweetness. I will be revisiting this concept from time to time as I feel it is an important aspect of successful dieting.

Fruit is a valuable resource of nutrition that is jam packed with phytonutrients to help our overall health. Because of the sweet delicious taste many people often over do the necessary amount needed for good health to the point it becomes detrimental. By limiting our sugar intake from fruits the best we can, while still eating an abundance of vegetables, puts us in a position to be both slim and happy. So the next time you eat a piece of fruit be aware of how many grams of sugar it contains and also be mindful of your overall vegetable intake for that day. With these steps you will get the results you want and the good health you deserve.

Thanks! That link at the bottom is to a study showing how fructose helps cance rgrow as well. Scary!

You know, this was an excellent article...I don't think people think about the high level of sugar in fruit!
