I Miss You Mama

I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life. ~Abraham Lincoln

I dedicate this to my adopted Mother, who was and still is the most important and influential person in my life. I miss you every day.

Sitting here in a haze of memories

My bowl filled with warm oatmeal

Brown sugar melting on it spreading

A puddle of sweetness for my mouth

Waiting for me to savor

Every last drop

Quenching my hunger...

This gift made with love

My angelic Mother smiling

Down on me caressing

My empty heart

Which still is filled in

Abundant wisdom

Bestowed on a needful child...

The fan is silent today

Fall bringing beauty

The air ripe with autumn

The sun trying to peek

Through the fluffy clouds

The whistle from the tea kettle

Singing it's impatience ...

My teacup waits

Impetuous longing

For the story to be told

Another time and place

Perfect acceptance I had never

Felt or known before Mama

Breathed new life into my

Hungry voided existence...

Sitting here a guardian

Of the past in remembrance

Cherished beyond any other

The answer to all my questions

The savior to my soul

A priceless heroine to

Life's pains and sorrows...

You live and grow

In every cell of my being

Forever transposed within

Every breath I breathe

Carried forward to bring

Never ending benevolence

Taught through you...

I honor you with my life

The least I can give back

To one so noble and wise

My mentor gifted to me

When I needed you most

Directing my simple life

Lived in your unending grace...

No remorse calls me

I open the scrapbook

In my heart of all

The times together

Smiles and tears

Blending into a

Batter of opulence...

Lost in this moment

Returned to our kitchen

Sitting on the counter stool

Holding your spirit in

Reverence and gratitude

My jewel of kindness

My sweetest gift...

I walk with you still

Always knowing

You guide my path

Lighting the darkest

Night of confusion

Holding me safely

I miss you Mama...

I love you Mama...

Barb your cherished memories speaks volume about you...So beautiful…your words took me to the corridors of your memories which you so dearly preserve in your thoughts…moments you lived etched for ever and I can feel that how caringly you brood over the thoughts of your mama…An outstanding poem

the power of one woman's love healed and transformed you who now in turn heal and help transform so many more lives with your work and writing. Her gift or love has multiplied 100 fold.

Awe thank you so much Melanie...yes in many ways it is what they call "pay in forward"...My Mother always guided me in life and even though she passed many years ago, she still shows me the way to walk in life...She taught me what uncondional love is, and was my motivation to devote my life to the service of those in need. Thank you for your kindness...
