Days before the band is set to release the first of 3 new albums, Green Day's frontman Billie Joe Armstrong checked himself into rehab after going on an obscene verbal rant at Clear Channel's iHeart Radio Festival.
Armstrong cut short the band's performance of their 1994 hit "Basket Case" by yelling that he wanted to play a new song and that the digital ticker" said the band had 1 minute left onstage.
Instead of playing Armstrong used the last minute to scream and about being cut short and ended the group's performance by smashing his guitar and then leaving the stage.
It is not clear what substance Armstrong is abusing however "Green Day wants to apologize to those they offended," says a statement on Green Day's website. And, "We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances."
