Welcome to the inaugural entry of “The Bitch Pad” blog.
For those of you ladies who ride as a passenger on the back of your partner, husband, boyfriend, or other’s motorcycle, you have more than likely heard the term “Bitch Pad” more than once.
For those of you who clicked onto this blog out of pure curiosity, let me introduce to you the more formal term of “The Bitch Pad” aka “a pillion”.
A “pillion” is a British term for a secondary pad, cushion, or seat behind the main seat or saddle on a horse, motorcycle, bicycle, or moped. A passenger in this seat is said to “ride pillion” or may themselves be referred to as a “pillion.”
The word is derived from the Gaelic for “little rug,” pillean, which is itself from the Latin pellis for “animal skin.” One or more pelts would often have been used as a secondary seat on horseback; the usage has carried over to motorcycles.
Now, in the world of motorcycles, “Bitch seat” or “bitch pad” is vulgar to some, compliment to some, and pure fun to others, is an American motorcycle slang for the pillion.
I am sure you have guessed by now that, yes, I am “The Bitch” who is “always on my husband’s back” (so he claims) on his motorcycle. So, welcome to my blog,” The Bitch Pad” , where I will recount life from the back seat.
So sit back on your “Bitch Pad” ladies and enjoy the ride….
