Let It Rain...

This is a poem I wrote today while remembering a beautiful survivor I worked with years ago...I dedicate this to her courage ...

Let It Rain

The rain is pouring

Within my soul

Helplessly I watch

Unresponsive to my longing

I try to make the flood stop

Holding it within

Unsuccessful it escapes ...

My tears falling undiminished

Frightening with the depth

Of this unending pain

Not to be shut out...

Life moves on

The earth spinning slowly

Day and night passed

My eyes watered

Hope failing me...

My friend asked me

One more time

The damn burst open

Releasing words I knew

Not were mine

Cresting on the jagged rock

A tale too painful

To even express...

Inside my heart

Water inundated

Wild and fierce

I caught the malice

I heard the reasons

Then I asked

How am I to subsist

The earth spinning slowly...

Unconditional love then spoke

My name with purity

Not once but

Again and again

Holding me as I wept...

Lifting me to find my voice

Laughed with me

As life returned

Settled into acceptance...

Within my soul

It rained and cleansed

My spirit given new wings

Surviving ...

Blessed with gratitude

Finding myself framed

In gold through

The eyes of a friend...

Barb as always you have the power of passion to weave heart felt poem…It is a soul searching expression...cleansing the soul and getting the wings to live another day with hope…with dreams… with smile…Yes the rain within as it spills out from the eyes indicates that soul in its remake building reasons to survive…It must rain within…

Thank you Uttam...I think of this lady often as I worked with her for many years...firstly she was in a parenting group I ran for years, then she was in the group I started for women who had been sexually abused...her courage to rise above all she lived was inspiring to me.

She grew with time being able to trust and find her first all she could do was listen to others...but it all was there inside waiting for her to find her courage...I am humbled that she was able to find the trust she needed to finally speak of this happened as it usually will...talking of the lesser pain first...slowly working her way to the core of her pain...I will never forget her...she still inspires me with the strength of the human spirit to survive and let go...
