ATM is your friend........NOT

Apparently if your ATM goes on the blinks and makes an error by dishing out $1.5 million dollars to you the penalty is only 15 months in jail.

58-year-old Ronald Page a retired worker from General Motors usually maintained an average of $100.00 in his bank account.

Though back on August 1st through August 18th in 2009 due to a bank error the automatic teller machine he was at in Detroit’s Greektown Gambling Casinos allowed him to withdraw thousands of dollars that totaled up to $1.5 million in cash.

ATM withdraws

$312,000 at Greektown Casino

$103,000 at MGM Grand Casino (that same day)

$514,000 at Motor City Casino (few days later)

The rest were taken out at ATM’s all over town to include the cashier’s windows.

Three weeks later and seriously overdraft the bank finally picks up on what happened and hunts Page down who was 55 at the time, is now facing 15 months in prison as he did plead guilty to theft of bank funds. The US Attorney’s Office recommended that he pay back the bank and be prohibited from any type of gambling. His sentencing will take place this next week on June 27th, 2012.

Wait, rewind just a little bit.

It was recommended that he pay back the bank and banned from any kind of gambling or casinos?

15 months in jail for a whooping $1.5 million dollars.

Do you think he got off to easy?

Would you have a crazy 18 day joy ride worth $1.5 million dollars if you knew it was going to cost you only 15 months in jail?

That close to $4170.00 your spending per hour assuming of course you don’t sleep much.

He was crazy to stay and gamble it all.

He should have taken the money and gone to Costa Rica!

OMG, how on earth was be able to take out so much in such a short period? I've just calculated the most I could get, with present limits, would be $6000! Gosh for 15 months I would have to do a heck of a lot more than spend my time in a sleazy casino. :-))

something pretty strange...Why no accountability established in case of Service provider...I am just surprised that ATM if malfunctioning, surely others must have also drawn cash from that machine...Poor Ronald...
