Tom Cruise and Adam Sandler did not break box office records this weekend, reports the Huffington Post. Cruise's much advertised and hyped Rock of Ages movie took in approximately $15 million. This compares to Madagascar 3's $35.5 million and Prometheus' $20.2 million. Snow White and the Huntsman took fourth with $13.8 million. Sandler's R-rated comedy That's My Boy, brought in $13 million.
Rock of Ages is a rock/jukebox musical, with a book by Chris D'Arienzo, built around classic rock hits from the 1980s, especially from the famous glam metal bands of the decade. The musical features songs from Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison and Europe, among other well-known rock bands.
