The most disturbing is the audacious display of honor killing. An intimidating reaction of the family members over the couple who elopes against the wishes of the family. Why they kill people in love.

Many so extensively and loosely talks about love, as nuisance. They do it without any remorse and they act as if, they only hold the divine right, to say so. I just can’t believe that how obnoxiously they try to overload their baggage of setbacks over others. They just don’t have any clue about love. They very loudly claim their place of righteousness by picking up the practices of centuries old, which has outlived its utility. I am aghast to see that many holds such archaic practices as sacred. Where these people are heading to? They collectively connive and demonstrate their outrageous act in village commune and in city too in the name of religion, sect, caste or creed. And they do it unabashedly. These people are sick and they only create a situation for the occurrence of heinous crime.

The most disturbing is the audacious display of honor killing. An intimidating reaction of the family members over the couple who elopes against the wishes of the family and the community/sect/religion/caste they belong to is a reflection how our society is permitting such intolerance. Under the very nose of constitution the medieval practices and customs are claiming the life of couples in love. They are being brutally killed.

How such heinous crime can take place? How in the name of honor, people are killing? Do they really know what love is? They just don’t have any feelings.

Love is too powerful. Love is which we all look for...love is which we can safely believe in. Love creates...love makes you feel complete. In love everything makes sense. When you are in love you feel how humane you are. In love means you are living…you are smiling….you are breathing…you are dancing…You exist as you are, when you are in love. In love you are so pure. In love you are at your best…Then why they kill people in love.

This is heartbreaking to watch and makes me feel such anger ...also shame that Canada is not giving Jassi justice....I will join that page that is bringing awareness to this case...How in the name of anything "holy" can one's own family do this to their own...The one light I do see in this is that The Fifth Estate is involved and they have over the years been able to bring justice to many cases ...I have total respect for their journalism and this show which is bravely produced at sometimes a high cost. Thank you Uttam for making me aware of this... I will be now be following this and trying to see if I also am able to make a small difference. This is too sad...where has our humanity gone when this is allowed to happen and people close their eyes to this? Perhaps a petition should be started...if it already hasn't been...It would have to be done federally though...as I live in another province...

Thanks barb for showing your solidarity with this case of Jassi Sidhu, a Canadian citizen killed brutally here in India...I agree with The Fifth Estate that why her uncle who conspired her murder cannot be prosecuted under section 465 of the Criminal Code i.e. Conspiracy to commit murder...I am always very optimistic, if we all build up this issue through various medium, we can certainly be able to keep this issue alive for authorities in Canada to take note of this...what ever may be the loop holes in judicial system, this can be corrected in vibrant democracy as of yours...The only way is to build up a constant pressure to build up public opinion....As I know Broowaha is a forum on net and through which we can do a lot to address such issues besides creative writing…after all this site is mainly to share news and views round the Globe. I appeal to Tony let’s pick up this issue and build a consensus to bring justice. I just can’t believe and accept that conspirator and perpetrator roaming so freely there in Canada…
