An Eclipse Of My Soul

The soul is often hungrier than the body, and no shops can sell it food. HENRY WARD BEECHER

The body is governed in its earthly life by the soul, and the soul contemplates heavenly things through faith...

An Eclipse Of My Soul

My mind floats

Through the merging

Of illuminated dreams starry spots

Of luminescence

Moving towards the void

Of silence which softens

And hugs the illusions

Which once held my dreams

Letting go of what never was

And embracing possibilities

Of what may be

Overcoming my ambience

Which obscures my mind

An eclipse of my soul

Which I will hold sacred

In my memories...

"A friend of mine had posted a song on Facebook which I had never heard and I loved it... so I wanted to write a poem to it...this is what I wrote....I wrote this in like five minutes while listening to it... music always inspires me..."

The fact that it was instrumental made me want to put words to it...

The warring emotions creates many a times dramatically opposite to what we believe in and in that creation we certainly seems to drift and find illusive void. And that’s how I read this poem “An Eclipse of My Soul”…Beautifully written and I certainly see the flow of spontaneity in it …As you have mentioned that after watching a particular song, you just penned down this poem in 5 minutes…It speaks of talent and passion you hold in…Let me take liberty with all regards to you…I prefer to say “An Eclipse to My Soul”…You have the power of passion in your soul and that’s how you could write such a beautiful poem…Keep it up Barb, I enjoy reading your articles/poems…

I so agree with what you are saying Uttam, the warring emotions will often lead us astray...maybe why it is better to make decisions when our hearts are calm...I appreciate your generous comment...as I was saying to you earlier we seem to create from our hearts ...is when the pen just takes over...And yes, I do believe no matter what you do in life, you should do it with faith and passion...the idealist in me always...thank you again Uttam.
