I have been restraining myself to confront the argument, put forth by an individual about women, which was in very bad taste. I decided to maintain distance from the outrageous commentary. However that shocking piece of incongruous write up kept me very restless. The content of belligerence, in its most expletive expose, wrecked my heart with revulsion. His audacious and repugnant views on women dragged my patience to the edges. I just wondered that how he could say such obnoxious things about women. And then with horror I read the news of death of three month old baby girl Neha Afreen. I realised that the deep seated hatred towards woman is not developed in one day; rather it is acquired and structured in the formative stage only. I also understood that at the bedlam of infectious indoctrination, devil nurtures a devil. Yes the same devil; who battered his baby so brutally and mercilessly, that she died day before yesterday.
Let me share with you a shocking death of Neha Afreen- a three month old baby brutally battered by her own father. She suffered cardiac arrest and with brain damage she slipped into coma. Baby’s father, 22 year old Umar Farooq battered the head of a baby, bitten her on the back and also with lit cigarette burnt her body.
So shocking is the news and also so revealing is the derogatory commentary on woman and I infer from this that there is a simmering hatred towards females. How can I call my country and culture as great? I just cannot live with a false sense of self glorification...it is difficult to digest. My country is lacking drastically in protecting females. From the infancy stage to old age they are subjected to humiliations and still this can be observed in draconian practice and beliefs of our society. The female infanticide is alarmingly very high and in my state (Punjab) it has imbalanced the sex ratio.
I do not wish to hold an arrogance of belief, that whatever we do is the best. I hang my face in shame on seeing such shocking state of affair in my country. I don’t hold the crowing attitude of male chauvinism. I refuse to plough a line on a derogatory belief, where women are looked upon with disrespect, where baby girls are brutally battered...where even educated men too so loudly claim the supremacy over the male. I condemn each and every act of those which degrades our women.
The death of Neha Afreen, a baby girl, reflects the sordid affair of our society. It reflects the mindset and I am not at all comfortable with this.
I do not have vindictive adjective to define such cruel male, but I have the power of my reasons, to be as sane as I can because I am born by a woman and I am a father of a daughter too.
To hell with all those men who consider women as inferior.
