REACHING FOR THE LIGHT...
watch the video

On days when everything you pick up knocks you back down... When comforts are empty and the world is noise... TURN TO THE LIGHT...

There will be days like this My Mama said...
Days when everything you pick up knocks you back down.
When comforts are empty and the world is noise.

When the world is screaming and you still are deaf to it's meaning
The meaning being ONLY what they comprehend it to be.

I will turn my face to the light
Go within and find a chalice of serenity
Which has been implanted in my soul
From years and being branded by the
Fires of life's perplexities.

There is still goodness in this world
that even a river of tears can
never wash away.
That the armies of adversity can
Never destroy unless
we choose to let them.
On soft days that beauty shines so clearly
embrace them and be grateful
it is on the days of darkness
that we find out what we are made of.

Do we lay down and surrender to despair
or rise to find within us a new spark
of strength that is buried in the essence
of God's grace.

Go within yourself and find
that speck of goodness
that seed of righteousness
blossoming from purity
and peace of knowing
your own heart's intentions.

Find a forgotten "thank you"
remember all you do possess
A heart which still beats true
a spirit of goodness that always
will focus on what transcends
the ego of needing to be right.

Yes, the day has worn you
Yes, your mistakes have been many
remember though all the smiles
that have blessed your journey
the hands that have held you tenderly
the prayers made on your behalf
the ears that have listened....

Acquisition this infinite grace
and say a "forgotten" thank you.

Gratitude which flows beyond
any darkness that life can deliver

Count the stars which have lit you way
the birds which have sung your song
the waves which flow with your breath
Count unexpected laughter
grace which was undeserved

Embrace all that still need your light
the hungry, the sick, the helpless
count those that may die today
and imagine if with one breath of your life
you could help just one

Turn your face to the light
know yourself as a child of the eminence
a goodness which no darkness
can ever extinguish
your rightful inheritance
the love that burns through the darkest night

Turn to this light
and maybe you will see
what I see
that what you thought was your curse
was a blessing given to teach
to open my heart in understanding
to bring me closer to this truth of life

To stand in that forgotten "thank you"
to smile in the face of grim suppression
knowing that grace is always given.
faith will always be my strength.
