There are many wayward paths that one can take when searching the world wide web. But even when we stay on the straight and narrow it's amazing the nuggets of treasure we can stumble upon accidentally. Finding an unexpected humorous bit among the mundane, something that makes you think for a second and then upon realization of the joke brings a smile of glee, is just too fun not to share.
Here's how I found one today: I've got refrigerator biscuits and I've got bacon. I know I can wrap them around each other and make a yummy bread stick type of snack. But- I'm one of those who has to SEE it and read it and follow the proper STEPS to feel confident in my 'experiments'. (Yes, I know, it's pathetic. A tube of biscuits and bacon... a monkey could do it)
So anyways... ahem... cooking is serious business for the unimaginative like me. So I searched and scoped and read and skimmed in earnest. As I was searching online for the oh so important picture and directions, I somehow landed at www.thecookinginn.com/micsmeat.html where right after 'European Meatballs in cream sauce w/dill' and just before 'Meatballs in sauce w/rice', I found the following recipe.
Elephant Stew
1 elephant
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
Gravy, Brown (lots)
2 Rabbits (optional)
Cut elephant into small bite-size pieces. This will take about 2 months.
Reserve trunk, you will need something to store the pieces in. Add enough
gravy to cover. Cook over kerosene fire for about 4 weeks at 465 degrees.
This will serve about 3,800 people. If more are expected, the 2 rabbits may
be added. But do this only if necessary as most people do not like to find
hare in their stew.
